But to be honest it might have done Amir good. He's been a star since 17/18 years old and has just been swept along with his own hype.
I mean imagine being at such a young and impressionable age as he is and having all your boxing hero's, the British media and analyists all saying you're the greatest British prospect ever and that you are going to be a superstar.
He's always come across to me like a starry eyed pop idol contestant when he's talking about how he wants to rule the world and win multiple world titles. He's just parroting what the people around him are telling him.
Now he's been hurt like this he, and perhaps more importantly his team have had a reality check. He now knows he can't just turn up and whoop whoever is put in front of him and that even at domestic level the opposition is tough.
He may now start to inwardly doubt himself but that might be a good thing, making him more cautious and taking every opponent more seriously.
I still think he has tremendous potential.
People should cut him some slack, he's at a stage now where ordinarily he wouldn't have even made it onto television yet but he's already a veteran of being in the media.
It's a heck of a lot of resposibility to put on such young shoulders.
I wish more people would get off his back. We have a funny tendancy in Britain to want to destroy our best sporting stars and gloat in their failures rather than cheer them on and hope they can proudly wave the flag for us in the future.
