maragrito..has, had, never did, never will, couldn't dream of it, ever had a chance of beating floyd...

but young tito...i mean cotto that's a different story...it will be fun to watch whose will would break first...as floyd would be facing a much larger version of castillo..and cotto would be facing for the first time a fighter with enough sting, accuracy, and footwork that he'd be hit with clean flush shots all night long...the question is whose will would be broken...

I agree that Margarito would most likely get taken to school severely by PBF (not because of the loss to Williams). His lack of speed & some technical faults would make this fight very tough for Tony.

Cotto is a different story. Very technically sound, with good hand speed. PBF might want to stay away from him. He looks better to me every fight & he's as brutal of a WW that is on the face of the earth.

Danny G, I agree with pretty much everything you say, not only because I am a Cotto fan, but because you support your points very well with "FACTS." Now, I don't know if Cotto and Margarito can pull off victories against Mayweather, but I do know Cotto and Margarito will be much tougher than the opponents Floyd has fought in recent memory. As a fan, I admit that Mayweather is pound for pound best, but it's time he steps in the ring with opponents who will give him real trouble, such as Williams, Hatton, Cotto, and Margarito. Again, I do not know if these guys can win, but they sure will do better than Gatti/Baldomir.

Floyd would actually have to set his feet and throw a punch to get in trouble like that.

Hhhhhmmmm sure, I would expect them to do better than Baldomir and Gatti. But I wonder about Cotto's speed vs Mayweather. Who's easier/harder to hit?

Riiight...so it's all about speed? So...who gave Mayweather his toughest fight? Oscar?Nope. Zab?Nope. Those are the 2 fastest he's faced. The guy who gave him the most trouble(regardless of the decision) was JOSE LUIS CASTILLO.Is he fast? Absolutely not.

Margarito reminds me of a technically less efficient but bigger and stronger version of Castillo. Mayweather would be HOT favourite but Tony would have his moments and hey,if Oscar can throw 50-60 arm punches per round/punches that miss by inches and get an SD,who knows?

Cotto:Jab,controlling distance and good bodywork.Three things you need to beat speed. He has them all.

I keep hearing that Cotto would probaly be the one to beet Mayweather. Both Margarito and Cotto seem slow and I don't see how they could give Mayweather a challenge. I can see Mayweather landing punches from all angles out there and avoiding getting hit.

Cotto or Margarito vs Mayweather? Naaaaah, bring someone else.
Well my friend everybody knows that Mayweather dont like a competitive challenge , so then ;why he dont ask for fight with them to let know that he is the BEST P4P in WW division? , because if you say that they dont represent a challenge , he usually choose his opponent or you didnt know that ? if not he would choose of them , so i think real HATER that dont know what you talking about......In the whole world knows that he DUCKING Cotto , he CREATED THE DOUBT AND UNKNOWN...

Good point Gamo. Let's hope Cotto is the first fighter out there who can connect more than one punch at a time before Mayweather slipping away in the ropes or doing his shoulder-roll.

I don't think so. People said that of all the fighters he has faced already one after the other. It took Mayweather a while to take on Oscar but it didn’t mean he was ducking him. I really hope Cotto has the formula to beat Mayweather but I just can't see it. Sometimes I even wish Mayweather dominates Cotto just to prove my point but, hhhhhmmmm, naaaaah, I rather see Mayweather loose and see what he has to say after that. See if he will keep talking the way he does and give the guy who beats him well deserved credit.
Many thought that Paul Williams had what it took to beat Mayweather but was exposed a few weeks ago. Let's hope the same doesn't happen to Cotto or maybe it already happened. Gotta find that YouTube video.

Mayweather is a great talent. The Only reason I want him to loose is because how he is outside the ring. A fight between him and Cotto it would be a great match. Cotto as well has intelligence and the Floyd's hardest fight.

This fight is my Tito vs Oscar.

So you have only seen him fight once or twice? I can see where you are making your mistake.
Nope. In most of his fights Cotto gets exposed, something I am yet to see in Floyd. When has Foyd shown a weakness compared to Cotto? Cotto gets cut, rocked, almost gets saved by the ref, gone down, etc. How about Floyd? I am yet to see a CLEAR weakness in him.
Maybe Gatti will come out of retirement and we shall call this the show down of the retired fighters. It would make millions and we all know that Floyd is in it for the money and not down with proving who the best is.
There is a video where he says that, so you cant argue it.
Wouldn't any of us take the opportunity for a bigger paycheck in your jobs? Here we have a fighter who fights 2 times a year. Why waste his time with someone who will not even offer half of what he can earn in a multimillion fight? Gatti? Hhhhhmm actually, I can see Floyd doing the same thing he did with Gatti and Baldomir.

What do I see in Cotto? Will, heart, determination, differnt looks, attrition, power, relentless attack, speed, take risks, destruction, sticks to his game plan from start to finish.
Will, heart, determination, thinking positive, being motivated, living happily, etc. NONE of those win you fights. Floyd has faced lots of guys with all that who end up leaving the ring with another loss.
You said speed?!...tell me something, you think Cotto is FASTER than Floyd?!

ODLH? Forget about it. No one want's to see another snooze fest where Floyd claims he will destroy De La Hoya and does nothing more than leave a red blush mark on Oscar's face. Floyd did not deliver.
Ok, I guess we can agree on one thing. Yes, that fight was far from an utter destruction and dominance from BOTH SIDES.

This would be a great match if it happens. I still have my hopes in Cotto wining against Margarito, then fight De La Hoya and win. If this scenario happens I believe Floyd would come from retirement and fight Cotto. I believe Floyd is just trying to win the biggest quanity of money in the less quantity of fights (less risks of getting hurt), and I am sure Cotto is a high risk for him. I believe Cotto has the style to beat Floyd, not an easy fight, but Cotto is strong enough to press the fight and in a smarter way than Hatton. Cotto's punches to the body will have more power than De La Hoya's body punches. It would be a great fight and I hope it happens in the near future (not later than first half of 2009).

I more than sure Miguel Cotto can knock out Mayweather. Mayweather can't handle Miguel Cotto's power punches.
