It's a bit sad when the fans start criticizing boxers for making less money don't you think? I thought we were supposed to hate fighters who took fights just because of the money? Just a little wierd..

I would have preferred a Taylor rematch though. He took the bigger challenge though so fair play to him. I wonder where he goes from here. Big name, long avoided and I think there is a possibility he is left out of the big fight mix after this one.

    Hopefully not.

I think Winky deserves full credit for taking on Hopkins, he didn't look good at the weight and really he is just a bulked up Junior Middle. He wants Oscar and to get him he must go back to 154lb, big ask!

    I feel you, AL B.

And he did it in poor fashion. Wearing Butterbeans trunks into the ring and stuffing them full of left over fight posters to help hold them up.

He took the bigger challenge but I think most would agree that they would have rather have seen him resolve his business with JTwhich was also a challenge considering their first fight was so close. Although you make a very valid first point,I don't think it applies in this context.

This is whats wrong with fans, fighters cant win. Its always something, instead of giving him credit for taking a hard fight and not being about the money. Hes now stupid for taking the fight, F*** that. If a fighter loses its always with the second guessing....Its like the reverse of Calzaghe, and everyone is giving him S*** for being sheltered and all about the money,JT too. I just hope you keep your its all about the money stance and dont flip flop.

It's not about giving or taking credit away from him. The JT fight was a fight that everyone wanted because the first fight was so good. The fans wanted a rematch and the money was right for Winky but because JT was making a tiny bit more, he turned the fight down. It's just a horrible business decision that makes no sense. That's why I'm wondering what the hell he was thinking not taking the JT fight. I like Winky but let's be honest, the guy's ego DID get in his way. Imagine if he beat JT in the rematch, he would have been middleweight champion of the world and recevied a lot more praise and respect than if he beat an old ass Hopkins.

I'll agree there Taylor would have been the safer fight, and more lucrative. But, hey high risk, high reward. Think how people would be talking about Winky today if he won, he would have the bargaining edge in any fight.
