what where Roy Jones Best matches?

The Jones fight that really got my attention was his devastating KO win over Thulani Malinga, I remember Malinga lay froze on the canvas , almost like a seizer state all his muscles were erect , eyes rolled back , went on for several anxious moments . Granted Malinga only had two weeks notice for the fight and had lost 4 of his last 8 prior to Jones, it was still an impressive outing for Jones . Roy Jones was something special no question. he had cat reflexes, and would leap out with hellish power shots , impressive how he could just toy with opponents , then cash them out. the early matches were Roy's best . he fought with more intensity. put more thrill in his matches.. Jones seemed to lose that fire after the Benn/ Gerald Mcclen match, it got to him , scared him off his aggression .

He also broke one guys next in one of his fight he hit him so hard, But I forget the fighters name.

I can't say it was his best match, but I thoroughly enjoyed the beatdown he handed Vinny Pazienza. One combination was so quick, RJJ was landing all kinds of punches on Vinny as Vinny was on his way down.

IMO what he did to Ruiz @ HW was phenomenal. Regardless of what is thought of John, he's a legit HW with some legit wins. RJJ put it on him from start to finish.

Toney being weight drained is a poor excuse. Toney battled weight problems his entire career, yet he never clearly lost a fight for more than a decade after he was dominated by Jones.

No, I totally agree with u on that point. And Toney is a great fighter.

I do get what ur saying about "clearly lost". I look at things differently. He may not have been beaten up or dominated, that's a whole different thing (I take it that this is what ur referring to when u say clearly lost). But anybody that's got a "L" put in the column of a fight--clearly lost that fight in the eyes of the history books.

IMO RJJ beating a guy that was the same size as him wasn't quite as impressive as giving up over 30 lbs & dominating a legitimate HW.

The Toney fight was an impressive showing & absolutely deserves discussion in this thread. But for me, I prefer the Ruiz showing.
