Default Ricky Hatton v Antonio Margarito

    Now there's a good fight.

I think if Daniel Santos can beat Margarito then so can Hatton

    Good match up though.

I think Hatton can outwork Magarito, but Magarito is bigger so it would be a hard match

The Santos fight was @ 154,and Santos came to the ring@170 soooo that has no relevance.Margarito is tall, powerful and has a decent jab. Anyone that stands in front of him will get crushed and I love Hatton but he would stand no chance either. Whilst he's pounding to the body,Tony will be landing the bombs on his chin and no-one except maybe Kassim Ouma outworks Tony. He throws 100 plus power shots per round and comes into his own after round8,IF anyone lasts that long. The only person that can beat him at WW is Floyd. Margarito's size would be too much for Hatton too, what is it like a 5 inch advantage?

Firstly The Game i disagree, Tony does not destroy Hatton no way it could well be a very close fight and i think we all know this because when Ricky had his shortlist to fight at 147 there was no mention of Tony, that is because he is a schooled 147 welterweight, the height advantage will be about 4 1/2 inches, but when this fight is fought toe to toe i dont think that will have much relevence, i think Hatton would be favourite for this fight because of his sheer intensity, i would predict a small ud for Ricky.

The Game you talk as if Margorito is some monster?? he is only 147 and couldnt put away a limited 154 lb man in Santos, you say Santos weighed 170 on fight night, but i have seen Santos fight Takaloo who is very limited and really if Takaloo would of actully done something in there fight a few years ago could of sneaked the win. By the way Takaloo is now fighting at 147.

Also people say Margorito deserves his shot i beg to differ, the guy has fought one World Champ in Santos and was beaton ( by the way Santos has to be one of the most limited World Champs i have seen )

Margorito has been fighting guys who have not even been competiong at 12 round bouts never mind World Class level, for me Hatton would beat Margorito, until Margorito fights at some sort of level we cant judge how good he is, he looks leathel against limited opponents but he hasn't mixed with anyone near as good as Hatton or Mayweather alot of people are getting carried away with him.

I would call a guy who is a 5 ft 11/6 ft guy who throws80-120 power punches a round a monster. Secondly,I wonder why when asked about Margarito in an interview,he went quiet(CutmeMick saw it) Thirdly, you say who Tony has beaten but apart from Tszyu(a legend)who has Hatton beaten? Cintron,6 heads Lewis,Manuel Gomez,Martinez are all better than anyone on Hatton's cv apart from Tszyu and yes I include Maussa. You can only beat who was put in front of you,and that is what Margarito has done. Hatton would not be able to push Tony around like he did Tszyu, and if he wants to fight on the ropes, then Margarito will certainly win. You lookat his last 4 ko victorys, all on the ropes. Santos did not perform well like he did against Takaloo, for a number of reasons. Firstly, his career hinged on the Margarito fight,it was in his backyard and if he did not do well,he might as well have said bye bye to boxing and other reasons which I can't be bothered to state.
I don't think all the writers at ESPn,Ring, heck Teddy Riley Larry Merchant,Doug Fischer, even bloody Emmanuel Steward would respect Margarito if he was not good. Admittedly Floyd would cause him problems but Ricky is no Floyd,he's not going to dance around the ring is he? You look at what Margarito did to Cintron,a guy most predicted would KO Tony.!?

People say who has he faught apart from Tyzsu??

    APART FROM TYZSU!!!

The guy is an all time great who Hatton battered, Tony hasnt fought anyone near the level of KT, Not even close, Tony needs to up his level of opponent, Hatton should get the first shot at Floyd not Tony, Hatton owns the Ring belt has beaton an all time legend, Tony has beat no one and his win against the guy who won last night was good but again who is he

Tony is a decent fighter but you cant judge his performances against guys who were fighting 8 rounders less than a year before they met Tony, thats like judging Hatton in about 2001/2002 when he was KOing guys for fun, who were there to be taken out. Hatton has beat Maussa and now Collazo who both have done more than any of Tony's recent opponents apart from Santos who he was beaton by.

Yeah but you miss the point. Hatton got a chance against Tszyu,Tony has not got his chance yet. Secondly,Maussa and Collazo may have done more but Cintron is more dangerous than both of them,so what if Maussa has a belt, the guy is awful.Manuel Gomez took a prime Mosley the distance and was unbeaten for like 9 years?! You'll be finding out who Kermit Cintron is soon, the guy a good future ahead of him and 1 punch KO power and just because you have not heard of him does not mean he is not good. Not everyone has heard of Pernell Whitaker, does that mean he is not good?
To say Hatton deserves his chance against Floyd more than Tony would be valid @ 140 but@147,where Margarito has beeen unbeaten for 9 years and Hatton has yet to fight there,is silly.

And Hatton has not beat Collazo yet. Oh and Hatton is the one saying he does not want to fight Lil Floyd until he has some tune ups so Floyd should just wait rather than take $8mill and fight Tony?

I am a Hatton fan too but even though the most ardant fan can see there have been mixed signals from his camp. One minute they need tune ups,the next,he's ready, the next something else, see what I mean.

Are you being serious about Randell He was done whaen he fought Tony he was coming in with a record like 2-4 out of his last six fights, you cant be serious, that's like saying Hattons victory over Olivera was credable!!!!! Come on that is absolute rubbish the guy was done when he fought Tony and i haven't checked on boxrec but will do i think lost about 80 % of his fights after Tony beat him.

True true but the principal point being,as a Hatton AND Margarito fan, I want to see my guys fight the best. And you as a Hatton fan must be accustomed to hearing who has he beat etc etc before Hatton beat Tszyu.Margarito's quality of opposition compared to Hatton's minus Tszyu is far favourable and I just want to see Tony given his chance against Floyd. I don't say he will beat Floyd, more he will show what he is capable of and show he is dangerous and get the much needed exposure.
Back to the original post,I still think Margarito would beat Hatton up. Too much power, too much size, too much volume.

too much volume?? They both have a very high output but Hatton has as much volume as anyone, that's one reason this would be a great fight.

Hatton's volume includes hustle and bustle,BUT he does NOT throw 100 plus power punches per round,I meant volume in that sense. Hatton has volume in intensity, aggression, diff.type to what I was referring too but hell yeah, this would be an awesome awesome fight.
