CC # 711 nice thread , Cooper was exciting . he is a nice friendly likeable guy. and hit like a truck.

Cooper had the heart , his problem was the battle with drugs . I remember watching a rare video CBS Broadcast of Coopers fight with Ray Mercer, my opinion it was both fighters best best performance .. Mercer came in at about 222 lbs, Cooper was at 217lbs . the work rate was explosive. round one Mercer floors Cooper. Cooper gets up and lets his hands go... somewhere in about round 6 or 7 Cooper breaks Mercer's jaw, it swells up like a squirrel carrying a nut. Mercer fights right through that S***, like nothing happened.. both men took and gave more punches then today’s young HW lot , have ever dreamed.

If you can get a copy of that match , its well worth the watch. it will make you hate the state of today’s young crop of un schooled heavyweights.

Damn I remember that fight....Hell that must have been almost 20 years ago....Yeah man Mercer proved how tough he was that night...Cooper sure did hit hard.....He gave Holyfield all he could handle about a year or two later before getting TKO'd and that was a prime Holyfield.....Not too long after Bert started his downward spiral.....CC for the trip to the past.......Amazing how many fights you forget until the tiopic is brought up
Cool click back at yeah.! whats amazing to me after watching that match on tape , reflecting that neither guy won a world title. Then you look at todays crop. and think to yourself. what the fuck ? LOL
