If Holyfield died in the ring, there would be plenty of people (whether boxing fans or not) who see the story in the press, that will blame the board who allowed him to fight. Whether it is truly their fault (which it is not as far as i'm concerned) is another story.

I happen to agree that Holyfield shouldn't fight anymore. But it's up to the boxing licensing bodies to enforce that issue. You can't blame a former heavyweight champion and boxing great to want to keep going. None of us have ever been, or will ever be, in his shoes.

But your saying he should be in a loony bin is disrespectful.
Speaking of which ... and I apologize, sort of, for mentioning his name along with Holyfield's ... But Baby Joe Mesi is STILL UNDEFEATED and still fighting. For tips 'n' such at county fairs (trivia: what's the allusion?), perhaps, and against very undistinguished opposition.

He's been pretty active. I wonder if he ever plans to step it up to pick at the underbellies of some of the gatekeepers. Could he fight Ruiz or Tua?

Back to your regularly scheduled thread ... Go Holyfield! but go carefully ...

Wow, Baby Joe Mesi. Now there's a promising career cut short. I was so disappointed when he turned up with some medical problems. He was fun to watch and could have been a good one. Maybe not great, but a good and entertaining fighter. Especially given the state of the division nowadays.
