I'm just gonna ssume you are. I haven't been in school for well over a year now but i think this is accurate. There's this really compkicated formula to figure out what a derivative is *which i;m assuming is what you've been given so far) but there is a much simpler way to find them.
If you have x2(which is actual 1x2) the derivative would be 2x. To find the derivative of any number you take the exponent (the superscripted number) times the constant/base number (when none is present it is 1) and then you subtract the current exponent by 1 and thats your derivative.
1x2
2(times)1x(2-1)
because the exponent is reduced to one, you don't have to write it and the derivative is simply 2x.
