I'm not entirely sure if you are serious about this post, but yes, I don't really think we can think of someone like Roger Mayweather as African in any way shape or form.

1. If he ever actually went to Africa, he would feel as out of place as you would.
2. I have lived in America, and Africa, and any Americans who feel they are really Africans are sadly mistaken.
3. If he is the descendant of slaves, then generations of genetic input (including, statistically, a high likelihood of interbreeding with other races) would most certainly have diluted his 'African roots' as you so charmingly put it.
4. The PC way that Americans are compelled to refer to people as 'African/American', 'Mexican/American' is trite and shallow. It seems to me that it's just another way of stereotyping someone without having the guts to come out and say it (IMO only)
5. 'Africa' is not a country .... it is a continent with enormous genetic and cultural differences. At least a Mexican/American might have come from Mexico. Would a white Zimbabwean who moved to the US also be an 'African/American'?

I can't help thinking that you referred to him as 'African' only because he is a black guy, and I pulled you up on it ..... not to have a row about it ..... but just to say that I thought you were wrong to do so. Not for any pathetic PC reason, but for the real reasons above, which hopefully speak for themselves.
