Now at age 22 if something happened he may well apologise and admit wrongdoing in the hope that the (alleged) victim could get some sort of closure on it and get on with her life.
If it was me I'd own up, I mean imagine doing that and having the shame of knowing not only that you did it, but that you lied about it and denied it afterwards, basically screwing the poor victim twice.
This may sound completely absurd but if he admit's it and faces a short prison sentence I'd have more respect for him than if he denies it and gets away with, presuming of course the (alleged) victim isn't lying.
