I really don't believe it is his fault but the fact is that Maywether's reign from 140 on to 154 has met very little resistance. He never beat the champion at 140, 147 was at the time a very weak division. No offense to Carlos Baldomir but he will probably go down in history as one of the worst WW champs. No, his one sided victory over Gotti does not change this. As for Judah, all I can say is, what a waist. 154 was pretty bad as well with not one champion with more than 1 defense. Wright was the man and De la Hoya just picked up the spoils he left.

I don't want to take anything away from Maywether. He is a great fighter and no doubt an all time great. But he really came up at just the right time to not fight anybody of much significance in those three weight division. He still has a chance if he stays at the now red hot WW division and beats some of these champions like Cintron, Cotto, Mosley or Williams. It would have been great if he had come up about 8 or 9 years ago and seen how he would do against prime versions of De la Hoya, Mosley, Quartey and Trinidad.
