a radio station reported that because of Bautista's defeat, his hometown of Candijay would not be getting a paved road leading into town. Provincial Governor Erico Aumentado promised before Bautista's fight the road would be paved by 2008 if he brought home the title. On Sunday, Aumentado pushed the road-paving date back to 2010 and blamed Bautista's loss.

I'd tell the governer to stick it up moon river, fight under a different flag next time. truth be told.
Fucking Bautista should ashamed of himself. He let his whole hometown down.

I disagree. People who live vicariously thru someone else’s success or failures need to get a life.

Poverty and the love for boxing sport are the main reasons why RB shouldn't quit. I mean, this guy used to be a dead poor homeless, lived in a boxing gym for a while. And now his a bread winner.

The only thing he cannot afford to do right now, is retire.

Bautista is an exciting young fighter and I hope he does decide to return to the ring. On the other hand if he does retire I don't think it makes him a coward or any less of a man. I compare it to Tiki Barber retiring before he's crippled or sustains a serious injury. As fans it is easy to criticize these brave men who step into the ring or onto the field of play but the fact is they risk life and limb every time they show up for work, I know that isn't the case at my job so I have nothing but respect. I never understand how some people can call a fighters courage into question because he feels retiring or walking away is in his best interest. Would you feel better if he had internal bleeding, would that make him a warrior?

If at this point after one loss he is even thinking about retiring....he should. Or at least step away for a long while. If he's that mentally weak boxing isn't for him. For some guys the hardest thing is to get in there after a K.O. like that...if he's questioning himself like this already i can only imagine him back in the ring for the first time after.

A coward and a punk? LOL

A lot of people retire after their first loss. I bet you think Tito is a coward too?

I doubt he is really retiring. That was by far his biggest stage and he got knocked out first round. He is feeling devastated he worked his way up and now he's got to re-prove himself again.

That governor sounds like a douche bag What a muthaf*ck! Putting all that additional pressure on a 21 year old and blaming him for losing?? F*ck him.

Thats like telling people taxes are going to be increased because Paquiao losses to Barrera....I would be calling for that guy to be fired, sounds like politicians are the same the world over...Bautista just needs to do a little soul searching, maybe hes not cut out for boxing if this is making him question himself. I have a feeling this is just blown out of proportion. Some people never recover from that first loss...see Naseem Hamed for reference....

how old was tito? and what does that tell you if a fighter is 21 years old and loses for the first time then considers retiring? some people need to comprehend the situation first before they react.

grow up will you for fucks sake, your clueless...

Boom boom is a kid, he doesnt know how to handle humiliation yet - this kid is a prime example as to why people shouldn't slag off manager for protecting their youngster.. boom boom was putinto a match wherehe was completley out of his depth, he has been humbled in front of the watching world, and at the age of 20 thats a fucking hard thing to come back from, shit people talke aboue guys like lacy being able to come back from going 12 rounds, this kid didn't make it out of the first. And it shocks you and u think its bad he wants to retire? most people in his positon would think about it and prolly would retire... they will come out of it soon enough thats for certain, but right now ray has had his pride badly hurt, he must feel 2ft tall and thinks the whole world is laughing, the kid prolly wnats to just crawl into a hole and die... he's a cracking talent, just young and has a lot to learn - if he retires it wont be for long.

why don't think you think before you post next time.
