    Default Cazares eight pounds over!

WBO minimumweight champion Ivan "Iron Boy" Calderon made 111.5 pounds in the last pre-weigh-in for his August 25th Ruben Rodriguez Coliseum showdown against WBO mini-flyweight Hugo Cazares, who weighed 121 pounds, eight above the 113.4 limit. Cazares (25-3-1, 19 KO's) arrived to Puerto Rico early this morning, said "I apologize because of my weight. I have problems with my flights, delays, and arrived this early morning to Puerto Rico, and couldn't train recently." Meanwhile, Calderón (28-0, 6 KO's) showed even more confidence for the fight after the pre-weigh-in.

Well done buddy, but honestly I think you are the only person who cares. James Toney's poo's weigh more than Calderon.

i'm very interested in this fight, was really excited when there were rumors of Calderon taking on Viloria too, but i don't think the 8 lbs are a big deal, and regardless i feel that Calderon is gonna school the Boricua Killer (had to give him the nickname after all he brutaly beat up Dieppa twice and El Nene Sanchez lol).

Your first statement is wrong. I care.
Your second statement is probably right, especially judging from your avatar picture.

Good to see you online Tito! What do you make of Cazares being over weight? Will it have an effect. I remember Lorenzo Parra(anyone heard anything about him recently?) coming over weight, being stripped of his title and getting stopped by Sakata, could the weight affect Cazares too?

I'm still dam excited about this fight!

Hey EG. How's it going? You know, I should be ashamed. The fight's gonna be here in P.R., and I learned about the Cazares weight problem just a little while ago from you! It totally took me by surprise. It surprises me very much about Cazares, who's usually pretty professional about his fights. His victories against Dieppa and Sanchez were impressive. Hmmm.... I think this definitely puts a different spin on things. "Iron Boy" Calderon has been training like a mad man, trying to compensate for the size difference between Cazares and himself. If Cazares does drain himself down to the weight, he may be weakened to the point where Calderon could even take him out inside the distance. The plot thickens!

Is this gonna be on Showtime or HBO. Would suck if they just ignored it.

I'm still going with Calderon, weight issue or not.

Cazares will have to work hard to eliminate those pounds. And, actually even if he make the weight, the fight contract says that they can not weight more than 10 pounds the day of the fight. This is something that will be in favor of Calderon. I'm sure that Cazares will put pressure since the first round and Calderon's job will be to make him fail and punch taking advantage of Cazares mistakes and frustrate him. Calderon has to be very careful in those initial rounds when Cazares will be stronger. It will be interesting to see how Cazares will be after 7 rounds, but his advantage is that Calderon does not have a KO punch.

This may be a Leonard vs. Duran II.

PRP how's it going? Good to see you in the forum today. The fight's only a week away... and it should be exciting. Both are excellent fighters. I know Calderon was concentrating on strength training, but I hope he uses every bit of his superb boxing skills to keep Cazares off balance. Like you said, the first rounds will be the most critical. Cazares may try to take Calderon out early, knowing that Ivan can outbox him. Are you planning on going?

Hey my friend, long time we did not meet in the forum. I think this will be very tough for Calderon and he has to use his skills at his best and keep concentrated on the fight. I hope he does not do with Cazares what he has tried to do in his last couple of fights, stoping to fight. He just can not do that in this fight because he does not have KO punch to stop Cazares. But, I keep thinking on Cazares saying "No Mas" as Duran.

There is a group from work who invited me, but I think I will watch it on TV. Your friend AG is one that invited me. May be you can go with him jaja.

I'd like to go, but don't think I'll make it this time around. I'll be looking for it on TV, though. By the way, check your personal messages.
