Yeah but Miles, you have to realize that he's obviously going to say something like that to make this fight out to be personal and garner peoples interest... THe reality is he's fighting Hatton because Ricky is a mega star in the sport who will earn him a lot more credit if he wins. Margarito was calling him out but not many people even knew who Tony was, and after the fight evcen those who did could have just said oh well he hadn't fought anyone. It doesn't make him a hypocrite moreso than practically every other fighter..

The lure of money and fame is much stronger than keeping a record clean. It's difficult to be content when you're still young.
