And in the last two fights, his fighter was heavily favored. Plus he trained Prince Badi Ajamu for his fight against Roy Jones Jr and Paulie Malignaggi for his fight against Miguel Cotto. For awhile there it seemed like all Buddy McGirt trained fighters were losing. He has also been criticized by some boxing fans for giving terrible advice in fights.
But fighters still choose to train with him so that has to mean something. I just think he's a little over eager when it comes to training fighters, willing to work in any corner for any fight. He did train vernon for his showdown with baldomir and he currently trains Paulie Malignaggi. So it looks like the tide may be turning.
Well written but the only thing I would like to point out is that he did help Gatti make a 180 in style after the first Ward fight. For the next 5 fights he easily handled the competition by boxing instead of brawling.
Gatti's big mistake was boxing floyd instead of returning to his roots. Now before all the mayweather fans start bashing me for saying anything about their hero, I'm not saying Gatti would have won, I'm just saying he would have had a better chance and that was the big drama leading up to the fight....would he brawl or not.
