The good Dr makes a fair point, this division does lack quality, but that does not mean there is nothing to debate.

I think Calzaghe is by far the class of the division; but after that, it is very intresting to see who should be rated #1 contender to Joe.

Kessler has a statsically impressive record, but lacks the quality of opposition. Beyer is very flaky, Lacy looked to have the class, but the Calzaghe fight, showed his limitations.

I would put Kessler #1 contender, but that is purely by default, because everyone else has shown big flaws, while Kessler still has his '0'. But I have my doubts as to weather he is a legitmate top three fighter, even at Super Middleweight....
Britkid, how is you able to say that Kessler lacks quality of opposition, please take a look of his resume. Kessler has beaten the Ring's no. 2 at home and the Ring’s no. 3 abroad. Actually that is more than Calzaghe has done so far. Gary Shaw promoted Lacy with poor boxers and made a lot of money doing it, but the truth is that every time Lacy faced just a little competition he struggled. Kessler has never lost a pro round on all the judges’ scorecards and he won the EU championship against the strong Eastern boxers. Do not fail in Kessler.
