Why do Erik & MAB hate eachother so much?

God just look how they fight each other in the ring, It's probably a mixture of all of those reasons, but if you see footage of the two guys together at press conferences + interviews, they just hate each other with a passion. It's boxing rivalry at its most vicious and from it emerged 3 of the greatest fights we have ever witnessed. It's tribal, like Man Utd and Liverpool, just absolute hatred in it's purest yet healthiest form.

I remember eric said, he treats people the way they treat him or something like that. so I guess eric feels he never got the repect he deserve from barrera.

I think the first fight belong to mab bkuz eric was almost out on his feet. then the second fight eric owned mab. and then in the third it should of been a draw,too close to make a conclusion for a great trilogy between two great fighters.

After their first meeting Morales got credited with the victory however contraversial. He was such a gentlemen about it he walked over to Barrera's room and handed him congradulation's out of sportsmanship. Barrera wrongly interpreted it as Morales conceding the victory. Barrera seems to have gained the favor of the fans by way of his popularity and his winning the deciding fight.

It's really difficult to identify who started their hatred for each other. For all we know, it might be the media who hyped things and made stories to increase their animosity for each other.

If I am not mistaken, Erik said and this was before the first match,
Barrera does not belong in the same ring with me. He is nothing but hype and an HBO tool.

But it is no secret, that CHILANGOS are hated by the rest of the Mexican people. Chilangos are like New Yorkers. lol

Although IMO, Barrera does not act like a dirty rotten Chilango nor does he have the strong annoying accent that Chilangos have. (I am not saying it's not noticeable because it is) Just not right off the bat.
People who don't know Spanish, or have never been to Mexico and who have never met a Chilango, will have no phuking clue what this is all about. But some peope here have summed it up. There will always be a hatred for those who live in the big city La Capital DF.

Basicly, this is sort of the same way the West Coast hates the East Coast and vice versa.

class act? bitched and moaned about his loss to Morales, took a cheap shot at Morales at a press conference, and his hand shake was more like a spit in the face than anything, cause you could tell by the smile on his face that it wasn't sincere, and also umm when has Barrera give Pacquiao the credit for the ass whooping he gave him? and wasn't it Barrera who was crying robbery and even contemplating retirement after he lost to Marquez? doesn't sound very classy to me

Mexican - "Chilangos" in Mexico, West coast - East coast in US rivalry.

In the Philippines, we got north and south. The marines vs Abu Sayaffs in heated battles. Pinoy vs pinoy killing each other in Manny Pacquiao's backyard (Mindanao). Just this month, 40 abu sayaffs are confirmed dead and 14 for the marines.

that's a bitch move,look at how mabs face switches to a punks look after his punch didn't even bother eric. then he retreats like a coward.

I use to think mab was a cool guy but his the biggest asshole kept secret. they built up the eric and marco rivalry as mab the good guy,but eric is right marco is a motherfucker. we never see eric fighting dirty do we? mab use to be my favorite because they made him out to look like a good guy type but when we look closer we can see his true colors. almost like a oscar dela hoya type boxing role.

There's a few boxers who...... any criticism of them will get you all kinds of grief from sneaky little sad clickers. Eric Morales is one of them.

Well, every time I've seen Eric and Barrera in close proximity to each other, other than inside the boxing ring fighting, it's usually Eric saying despicable things about Barrera and his family. Whereas Barrera usually acts cool and talks neutral about Eric. Maybe it's an act... I don't know. But based on what I've seen, I tend to side with Barrera.

(Besides, Barrera won my everlasting admiration when he beat the stuffing out of Prince Naseem).

Morales fans are welcome to dispute all this, but speak up. That's what the forum is for, after all.
