that was because of his style, if he would have fought in the style of winky or bernard he would have also had a long career. barerra who also had a slugging come forward style like erik incorporated a boxer's style to prolong his career. erik is a very underated boxer and had the skills to become a pure boxer but in his words "If I think about defence then who is going to come to watch me"

yeah barrera... he started when he was 15 and it wasn't until the Naz fight he turned boxer.. you watch his career it was HE who was had the rep as a fighter coming into that first morales fight... it was after doddgy UD that he changed his style to box and have more controll over getting a win rather than going for the KP from the get go...

Morales was very much a boxer who could get sucked into a war... he may have used the "fight like a mexican" line a lot, but at the time of the first barrera fight eirk came to the thing with the rep for being the boxer, and marco as the brawler...

I think Barrera won in the first fight. I didn't see the other two though I heard some say that Morales deserved the decision in one of them. They both had similar accomplishments and I would put them about even in any rankings.

Among all the fighters you mentioned above he would make top five easy.

I was never a Morales fan. One could even describe me as a Morales detractor as i often talked him mdown and picked other fighters to beat him. However, i only did this toward the end of his career against PAC and Diaz and in fights i felt he was genuinely the 2nd best man in the ring. I have a mountain of respect for the man, i do believ that he had a very respectable boxing aptitude and good ring generalship. However, i believe the primary weapon in his arsenal and his one outstanding factor in terms of boxing history was that monstor straight right. For me the best p4p straight right in boxing of the past 50 years, only rivalled imo by Gerald McClellans sinister cross.

Morales defeated a Pacman that was bloody due to a cut in his eye. Pacquaio was desperate at that time that's why he was unable to hit Morales with a good shot. Pacman however was given a chance during their second fight to prove his strength and he devastated Morales.I believe Morales gave a rematch to Pacman because he personally knew that Pacman was not at his best during their first fight.
Pacman's superiority over Morales became more apparent during their 3rd fight when Pacman regained full confidence on himself.

well id tend to agree with u there he put up a brave showing and boxed well. However, i do feel that a younger Morales could have done what Erik could not that night; Hurt Diaz. I believe that Erik in his prime would not only have performed with the same savvy against Diaz, but he would have had the ability to push diaz back more and wound him.
Actually for me, Pac has the ability to go up n hurt diaz....theres an idea.

its true eric was past it by the third but its also true pac makes his oppenent age rapidly. everybody told eric it was suicide to take on pac three in a row. by the third fight every punch eric threw pacman just ate up and continued his onslaught.

what is bullshit about fans is that, we make excuses either for our favorite or against the ones we dislike. we have to be fair, if you say eric was old and past it when pac fought him. can you also say pac was prime when they first met?

now if we want to talk about who wins prime vs prime. its easy to count out the idiots. they give themselves away.when they put one demensional pacman against el terrible. when we talk about prime vs prime we are only including 2007 pacman the top 2 p4p pacman. not the one demensional pacman that lost to eric not the one that drew with jmm and not the one that embarrassed marco. wow think about it, one demensional pacman already has a legendary resume.

anyways prime vs prime eric vs pac it has to be 2002 eric vs 2007 pacman. a 126 pounder eric vs a 130 pounder pacman. they would have to meet at a catch weight. ironically prime pacman is the one from a heavier division because he reach his prime heavier then eric. that alone breaks erics iron chin going against stronger fitted heavier pacman. eric would need to box theres no way he knocks out pacman. but eventually he`ll brawl which is why his taylored fit for pacs destruction.
