Erik's standing in his era
Now that erik's career is over where does he stand amongst the great fighters of his era like roy jones, bernard hopkins, marco antonio barrera, felix trinidad, oscar de la hoya, winky wright, prince naseem hamed, juan manuel marquez, jose luis castillo, shane mosley, fernando vargas, zab judah, kostya tszyu, johnny tapia, james toney, diego corrales, rafael marquez
remember erik always fought tough opposition one after another and never really took a tune up fight like most fighters do. apart from diaz and raheem who I believe erik would have beaten in his prime erik defeated the fighters who beat him. also many people have a tendency to hold fighters in the lower weight divisions in less regard so do not give someone a nod over erik just coz they fought in higher weight classes.
"Very few people really understand what it means to be a fighter. I hate it when I hear someone say, 'That fighter doesn't have guts. I hate that, I don't care if you're a world champion six times over or a four-round fighter, to step inside that ring, you have to have guts" Oscar De La Hoya
