If Hatton returns to light welter after the PBF fight this is the fight that makes sense,
Hatton always said Witter brings nothing to the table but now he holds the WBC,
I think its one both sets of fans would love to see as well!

THANKYOU!!! i brought this subject up on rickys website and got negative responses

i also think it makes sense, why are the hatton camp not interested?? it would reignite a bit of passion amongst the general public which can only be good for boxing right?

Ive always wanted this fight but it's lost some of its luster now considering where Hatton is at. Should of happened years ago.

The standout Brit match-up out there is Haye-Enzo. Sadly that looks like going the Hatton-Witter route.

ok, witter hatton witter hatton witter hatton..........im bored of it too but the bigger picture is that american tv is stopping these fights taking place, where would BRITISH BOXING be today without the likes of benn,eubank,g-man and mclellan?

more importantly, where will it be in the future if common sense is not applied

Hatton last fight was impressive,Witter needs to look brilliant against Harris to even be fought about been an opponent for Hatton at the moment.Witter is only a name in the UK and he aint got much fans here as well and the USA probably only know him for running like a baby against Zab.Hatton only wants big names so Witter would have to do something very impressive to get a fight with Hatton.

what, like win a world title? (WBC at that)

it wont be long before the british boxing public demand this fight on home soil......especially if witter impresses against Harris. its the next logical move for both fighters. what would ricky's options be had pbf turned down HIS fight proposals? ........ he'd be bangin on witters door before long.

Hattons a differant class to Witter, perhaps when Rickys on the slide, Witter might make a fight of it, British boxing dont need the fight now, Hattons flying the flag on his own

Personally, the only way that it could happen is if Hatton gets so thoroughly outclassed and brutally KO'd against Mayweather so much that he can't make any more really big name fights, and Witter would just be a fall-back position. I guess the only positive thing is that Witter does have a decent title.

If Hatton wins, or loses with dignity, there are bigger names he should go after than Witter.

For the wrong reasons, it would be a great fight.

    1) If we realise it or not, Ricky is struggling to get fights on home soil. Witter would defo be here in UK
    2) There IS a rivalry. It HAS been a long time touted match up
    3) Its a domestic, and would be a good fight!
    4) Some believe Witter would be Hattons Bogeyman

the frustrating thing is, i do actually think hatton would win. it woul get both boxers back on home soil (if only for one fight).
the excuses for not fighting him too are getting very very transparent. i tried making a good case for the fight on hattons forum but was told "ricky doesn't need witter", "why should ricky give witter a pay day?" and my personal favourite ; "WITTERS TOO SMALL!" (bearing in mind they fight at the same weight) whats that all about?

no doubt about it, Ricky has done exceptionally well. at the moment he is keeping British Boxing alive and we should all be behind him (and am sure we ALL will) when he takes on PBF in dec. COME ON RICKY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i just wish he would get Witter out of the way so that we can truely give him all the support he deserves, without witter looming somewhere in the distance giving it the big "i am". know what i mean? plus theres no reason why they shouldn't meet

To be honest...the only person who believes all the trash talking from Junior Witter is Junior Witter. It's like Michael Sprott claiming that he is the greatest British Heavyweight of all time. Nobody would pay any attention whatsoever, and I wish people would forget about Witter trying to get himself boosted up the ladder by hanging on to the coattails of Ricky Hatton. And seriously...does anyone not going to a wedding wear a jacket with coattails?
