Calvin Brock is a great guy. In a recent interview he was asked about a bunch of heavyweight contenders and didn't insult any of them. He tried to find something good about all of them, even John Ruiz. However, he's not a great fighter, just a very good one. He doesn't have 1 skill that really stands out. He's big but not huge, he's not super fast but faster than most, he's not real strong but plenty strong enough, and he doesn't have a huge punch but hits hard enough to get the job done. He has good all-around boxing skills and his conditioning is usually good too. I usually root for him but I am far from convinced that he's the best heavyweight around right now. I think that Wladimir Klitschko would be big trouble for him with his power and outside boxing skills. Valuev might be too big for him. I think he could outpoint Rahman or Ruiz, and we will have to see about Liakhovich and Brewster. I'm not sure about James Toney either. My sense is that Chris Byrd is headed down now and that Brock could beat him. Samuel Peter would be big trouble but if Brock was very careful he might squeak by with a close decision. I guess we will have to see but it's good to have guys around like Brock.
