Yeah it's the higher weight aspect that really does my head in... I don't see a problem with the odd rematch clause when a legit world champ is defending his title... That's fairly common.. But I've never heard of a rematch clause that will take place at a different weight.. The whole point of the clause is that it is for the middleweight championship... what merit is there in a rematch clause at a weight neither fighter have ever competed at, that won't be for a title?? Doesn't make a bit of sense.. And suppose Pavlik decides not to move up to SMW should he beat Taylor... What then, he'll have to rematch him anyways, at a catch weight or something
I agree, the significance of the rematch will be diminished if it's at any other weight first and second,Pavlik may not want to move up,although I guess contractual obligations will force him too. These are not the actions of a man of who really has belief in what he is saying nor are they the actions of a true champion!

All this talk of him "having nothing to prove,Having beaten Kelly in the amateurs,Kelly is average," etc and this combined with his poor showings and luck in getting decisions= JT needs to get KTFO.
