Nigel Benn was the only man to stop him.
He was Hagler's cousin/relation?
3-Time SADDO PREDICTION COMP CHAMPION.
He was Haglers step brother.
He was a good fighter, kind of a gate keeper for marvin, but was troubled by drugs/booze/women, still trains regularly, hell of a nice fella now and deeply religious.

He boxed doug dewitt for the vacant WBO middleweight title and lost a split decisionOriginally Posted by tiger
Robbie was a good pro but lacked the power of Marvin , he was good class not quite world,
but if hed been with Frank Warren then maybe hed have won and defended the WBO about 40 times in his career![]()

Yea he beat Duran - Iran Barkley not bad form really
Id like to correct myself he was marvins half brother, i dunno why i sais step brother sorry.
Petronellis said that Robbie had great potential and he showed great class, however was prevented from reaching his potential due to self-induced circumstances. Him n marvin were close, are still i guess.
Funnily enough, after his greatest win, (over Duran) robbies career was all downhill from there.

I seen couple of his fights i never thought he was at the elite level even though he beat Duran and Barkley i always thought he was step below the elite.Originally Posted by tiger
He sometimes looked really good (easily world-class), but only sometimes. More often than not he looked average.
The few times he looked particularly good was because of his ring movement and combinations, he went side-to-side well and brought a lot of body shots into his combinations. Other times he just lacked an edge, only went one way, pawed punches out etc.
Good potential, and good gatekeeper.
World class potential, world class person.
In Brockton, Ma we were teen aged friends and our families were friends. He is a great guy. I loved seeing him in the ring and always had the highest hopes for him. We used to go to the gym where he and Marvin trained. After we hit the bags a few times he said, "you guys are cut out for better things". Sort of his sense of humor for, "see those ropes? don't get in 'em". Even though he had boxing on his mind, he had friends in his home.
Both fights were good performances by him.Originally Posted by tiger
