He Fought 14-0-1 derrick holmes in 1980 in an eventual "man vs. boy"kind of match.Holmes came out really feinting and shifty,seting up sharp rights.He buzzed Gomez In 1st.In the 2nd Holmes was really catching Gomez and had him out on his feet with a huge right.
After that,it was all down hill for holmes as gomez roared back(what else did you expect)and proceeded to Treat Holmes LIke a human yo-yo.Gomez scored 2 Knockdowns in the 3rd.In the 4th gomez dropped holmes with a weak body shot and actually bent down ,got in holmes face and mocked him bad.Gomez scored FOUR more knockdowns in the SAME round.The 5th started with Holmes boxing sharp and then Gomez again dropped him,Holmes got up.....And again Gomez caught him with rt/lf and the towell came in from Holmes corner.Poor kid dropped Nine times in 3 rnds.Not the best known Gomez bout but Had to be on of the most humbling to his opponent.
