Ok pavlik fans, make up your mind. Most of you considered miranda an unknown, pavlik beat him. Then you say taylor is a chump, so if that is true your great fighter just beat a chump. So, in those two fights, if he beat the unkown and they took out the chump......what exactly has he done to even be mentioned as a fighter of the year candidate? I dont think Miranda or Taylor are chumps, I think both could possibly beat Pavlik in rematches, but you pav fans say they are chumps. You cant have it both ways, either your fighter beat two great fighters which would qualify him for fighter of the year or he beat chumps which would qualify him for "I've done nothing of the year", you cant have it both ways. If hes fighter of the year, I want to start hearing from pav fans how taylor is great and it took a great fighter in pav to beat him, if you cant do that then shut up about fighter of the year, cause if taylor is not great himself, then pavlik did nothing special and deserves no consideration, make up your minds, stop twisting it to meet your needs.
Taylor is not a chump, chumps dont beat legends like hopkins and draw with great technical boxers like Winky. Pavlik did a great job taking out Taylor after almost getting KOed he deserves a lot of credit. Miranda wt great wasn't a chump either but he was all that. Pavlik has a shot at FOTY dependig on how the other fights go.
I'm all for pavlik being fighter of the year, IMO, he beat a great middle weight champ in taylor. But if you read what most pav fans here are saying, in one breath they mention how great pav is, in the next they say how taylor was just a paper champ. I watched that fight and what I saw were two great warriors not running not dodging just laying it all on the line.
Mayweather's win over Hatton will give him his second Fighter of the year award.

What does being established have to do with fighter of the year? All that matters is you do more for boxing, and you do more as a boxer. Beating a former #1 p4p fighter who is way bigger than you, then beating a guy who is the universal 140 pound champion and on the top ten p4p list is bigger than what Pavlik has done. Oscar is way better than Miranda or Taylor, and Hatton certainly is better than Miranda, and probably better than Taylor p4p.Originally Posted by southakron314

Collazo is a goodish fighter at best.
Disagree with almost everything said here. 1st of all, Oscar was never #1 p4p, and most importantly, take a look at the guys who've previously won fighter of the year, it's almost NEVER the #1 p4p fighter in the world because it's less impressive to win when you're favored than to win when you're the underdog. That's why Glen Johnson won a couple of years back. Floyd's only win came the year he crushed Diego Corrales, and that was a pick'em fight according to Vegas odds. Pavlik was expected to lose to both Miranda and Taylor, and he didn't just win, he knocked them both the f@ck out, and most importantly, breathed life back into the middleweight division which suffered tremendously the past few years largely due to Taylor's lackluster bouts.Originally Posted by Taeth
Well at least Pavlik wins came form him beating those guys in their prime and doing it well
Weren't the odds on Taylor-Pavlik pretty close, and I know a lot of people who thought Pavlik was going to beat Miranda. Personally I hadn't seen Pavlik until that fight, but I knew that Miranda was overrated from other fights. Also Oscar was p4p champ after he beat Pernell Whitaker because Roy wasn't doing anything impressive. Also Pacquaio won last year and he was ranked #2, and started the year at #3 p4p.Originally Posted by smashcrusher
Also its not just Floyd, Look at what Cotto's done, Or Mosley whichever wins that fight should be ahead of Pavlik because they've foughten better opposition. What about Williams beating the "feared" Margarito decisively.

Now I'm going to do a bit of a flip flop. A couple days ago, I said Floyd hands down.
But given the nature of Pavlik's 2 fights this year, both being impressive FOTY canidate wins over highly regarded opponents, I'm going to change my mind on this.
I figured, cruising to a win versus 2 world champion fighters would be enough for Floyd to win easily but that's not really the case anymore I don't think. He is really going to have to impress to win now.
Miranda was the hot favorite in Pavlik fight.Originally Posted by Taeth
