If this fight is close after 6 or 7...i gotta go with the fighter with the better skill, smarts, and ability to adapt. Manny, for all of his supposed improvements, still fights primarily one way....coming forward to knock his opponent out. If he cannot put Barrera away early...i think he will get frustrated and not be able to adapt his fighting style. On the flip side...Marco's stamina will be the big question. He showed in the Marquez fight that he is still razor sharp and plenty fast (and strong) on his punches. It's his stamina against a pressure fighter that will be the big test. Can he deal with the pressure early and have enough left in the tank for the second part of the fight? Should be a great fight between two great warriors. If Marco can pull of this upset...he is without a doubt in my opinion one of the top three Mexican fighters in the history of the sport.
i would have to disagree with you on this one. the same thing happend in pac-morales II where pac was having a hard time with morales from round 1 to 5. but then he adjusted and adapted to the fight. i thought that after round 5 he will get frustrated. but he slowly adjusted and eventually knocked morales out. and dont say that morales was shot when they fought. you can never count anybody out until the fight is over. anything can happen. and pls, dont think that pac is that one dimensional even though he only fights going forward. and guess what, none of the fighters he fought was able to make him back up. it will be a good fight.. so just hang on and we will see what happens.
Josef, with all due respect...the reason why Morales lost the second and third fight was not because Pac adjusted...it was because Erik was a shot fighter by then. I don't say that to discount Pac in anyway. But Morales was almost done by the second fight and he was completely a shell of himself by the third fight. He simply had nothing left in the tank by that point (making weight, countelss wars, etc.). I will give Pac credit for finishing him off...but he simply beat a fighter who physically could no longer compete. I do think Pac is one dimensional...granted it's a hella of a dimension. He loves to lunge/jump in with flurries. His balance when he does this is shaky, but he gets away with it because of his speed. Eric backed him up plenty of times in their first fight and JMM did as well once he recovered from the early knockdowns. Pac depends tremendously on his athleticism and pressure. He is not a fighter who can change up his style though. I agree with you that it will be a very good fight. Marco is deservedly the underdog and he will have to have one of the best fights of his career to have a chance. If Manny can repeat his performance from their first fight...my hats off to him. But Barrera is such an intelligent and highly skilled fighter that i would never bet against him.
