    Default Howard Eastman

having failed in his 2 attempts at world title fights with william joppy then bernard hopkins, and a k.o defeat to miranda howard has tried to rebuild and mount another run that he hoped would land another world title shot........... however he lost his fight last weekend and many writers and fans are saying eastman is finished.

i've had the pleasure of meeting mr eastman, he was very friendly and wants to be world champ, he is one of the best middleweights we've had in the last 20years but how many people here think he can comeback and go one last time for a world title

Well its unfortunate, at the moment heis undoubtedly Britains Premier middleweight and there is no denying that the man has ability. However he now seems aaprehended by his age, as if he has left this massive task too late.

Against Hopkins his main flaw seemed to be his hunger for me. Jermaine Taylor referred to that fight as a dnce between to old men. Eastman never really tried to exert his will on Hopkins and was mastered by the old campaigner.
If he seemed to lack the hunger to drive himself on against Hopkins i doubt he will be able to summon the drive to give it another go a couple of years on, with a much more bloody minded set of Champions in the shapes of Sturm, Abraham and Pavlik.

    Wayne Elcock might dispute that.

I would not say hunger is the real problem for Eastman, it is the lack of ability. He fights at one pace and against British and for a while European level it was good enough. However it cost him for the 2 world title attempts that he made. I think age has caught up with him as he would never have lost to Wayne Elcock at his best. He can still make a living at this level but not at the world stage, but you never know a new champion may want to have an "easy" defence and challenges Eastman and he may take it. Thats the beauty of boxing.

Eastman should have battered joppy, but he never gives a 100% so he constantly lets himself down. its no good having ability if you wont use it. if he carries on he will be nothing more than a stepping stone fighter.

Well he's not got much time left whether or not he makes an impact.
So i dont think he's gonna become anything, he'll either remain as he is and retire or make a dash at the upper tiers of the middleweight division.

Eastman is well and truely done. Losing to Elcock say it all, he would of mullered him a few years back, even on one of his lazy take-the-piss nights

Who cares though? This fight couldn't even get TV slot, they weren't interested.

Is that the fighters fault or does it just illustrate the lack of focus on boxing by the general media?

If the fighter is boring people wont watch (unless it's Hopkins, but that's a different country )

I guess the TV bods got fed-up with Eastman being in borefests
