Dan Rafael mentioned in his chat last Friday that the Williams and Cintron camps are discussing a possible fight for early next year. The discussions are only in the preliminary stages right now, so nothing definite. I'd love to see that fight and don't have much interest in Williams fighting Margarito again. I think it would play out pretty much the same. And there really isn't any upside to that fight for Williams. It won't help him to get Cotto or Mosely or one of the other big names by beating Margarito a second time, but unifying the WBO/IBF belts against Cintron very well might.Originally Posted by Mr140
As far as Berto goes, I'm kinda surprised by a lot of the negativity...I thought he looked sensational. Sure, his defense looked leaky, but Cotto is no defensive master either. He is an offensive dynamo...fast hands, power in both hands, goes to the body savagely. I think he'll be a future champ, but no doubt it will be difficult going at 147. Probably does need at least one fight against a top 10 guy before trying to take the next step. Quintana sounds like a good test. Maybe Urkal after that, then a title shot.
