It was a war for sure!! I am surprised Montiel has lasted this long with that sloppy, wide open defense and those Sumo type stances he gets in. He takes alot of unneccessary punishment. He stands up straight and wings that overhand right and uppercut too casually and paid for it at times, but he's got heart, no doubt. The other dude is good and I think just got tired, he was winning most of that fight. The only 2 decent fights I've seen on the VS channel. Better than Tye Fields

One of my FOTY candidate. Round six and seven were the highlights of the fight. When Montiel scored the KD in the 6th, then he started to showboat. Melendez landed a vicious a left hook in the 7th that sends Montiel to the canvas. It was pretty much give and take from there, but not until the last round when Montiel tagged Melendez with a crippling liver shot.

Great fight, thought the announcers were giving Melendez a little too much credit early as far as scoring the rounds, I had Montiel winning but still there were a lot of good close rounds, really good fight. The way Melendez came back in the seventh was impressive but seemed like he slowed down after that. Montiel has a nice left hook to the body.

I saw this one on VS last night, it was a good fight. Montiel dropped Melendez then got dropped himself. Melendez was game tho because Montiel is so open and willing to trade. Too bad he is friends with Arce they would be an exciting matchup. I like the part when he knocked Melendez down at the end of the round, then helped him walk to his corner when he got up....lol. Was a good esciting fight.

Finally aired today.really good scrap.Had to turn down volume because Listening to Nick Charles call a fight Is Like putting saftey pens under all of my fingernails.Retard!!
why does montiel almost "pose" before unleashing his lefts??He stoops To Left,Raises Right arm,Bends and then Fires lefts.Talk about loading up.shows great heart,both do.Awesome climax in end In all the give and take.
