Sounds like the HBO commentary was ultra negative, maybe that had a little influence over some people.
I watched it without the commentary, just to make sure. I think it's because you're a hardcore MAB fan. No offence, but he didn't impress.
I thought Barrera only lost by a couple of rounds so saw it as competitive throughout. Maybe that's why i enjoyed it more than most.

You may have a point though, I see Barrera as being lightyears past his best, was expecting him to take a beating, and very pleased that didn't happen.

LOL,you were watching the Setanta broadcast. I thought it was a fairly close fight too whilst watching it with them. Watch it without the sound,it was not close. Secondly, here's what MAB said in the aftermatch interview with Setanata(got this from another site)

Said to mario lopez "I have no problems with the loss. People were saying i'll get knocked out in 3 rounds but I was in there for 12 rounds. And I'm very very happy."To me,that epitomizes his philosophy for the fight,to survive. It's like he's saying I survived 12 with Manny.Fighting to survive, not to win. That's my take on it.
I have watched it again. I thought lots of the rounds were close so I have no problem with Pac winning more comfortably than my first impressions, and I believe first impressions is all that counts.

I think Barrera is just being realistic saying that. Most people thought he'd get blown away - he didn't.

As I said, I wasn't expecting much, so it was a good surprise for me.
A clever man. Low expectations=easily surpassed. Smart. I think my expectations were a bit too high. Ergo the big ass thread containing plenty of moaning
