Personally...I would love to see Hopkins fight Joe. I think it'd be an amazing fight & I don't think that Joe would be half as effective as he has been with all these other cats that he's fought. Nobody bangs like Hopkins...Hopkins is just too up close & personal in your face all night long. Just look at the Wright fight...even though it totally pissed me off the way Hopkins fought...it totally took Winky out of his comfort element & no one has done that.

Agreed...but I don't think that Kess is going to be the walk in the park that most do...then again...I don't truly believe that he's gonna blast Joe out like a lot of other Kessler fans do.
Okay, for the most part I'm going to agree with you wack....both in your balanced view of what Kessler can achieve, and in what Hopkins would bring to a fight with Calzaghe. The one thing that I would point out is that I disagree about seeing Hopkins fight Joe. Hopkins seems to drag other great fighters down to his level, and he dirty fights like the 42-year old vet that he is. However many millions it would make on ppv and ticket sales, I'm not sure Joe would have the composure to drag himself up to fight his own fight, and not end up like many who fight in the gutter like Hopkins. Thus, I imagine it to be another tough, tight, rather dull but still compelling affair.
Thanks doggy.

Here’s the thing…Hopkins is ruff & sometimes dirty…but not always. A lot of people that face Hopkins will tell you that he’s one of the most skilled craftsmen that they have ever faced…that it’s not so much the dirtiness but more the tactical choices that he makes that befuddle his opponents.

He comes in one way & totally switches direction the next. If you’ll watch him it’s as plain as the light of day what he’s going to throw next but when he starts firing he’s already gone into a different game plan. He also fires off the jab while backing out…if you get to a point that you have him backing out.

As much of a pressure fighter as Joe is & as often as he does push you backwards with multiple combinations…I just don’t think that he’ll be as effective with Hopkins. Bernard is more of a street fighter than anyone in the game & Joe is probably the most awkward fighter that Joe will ever face…Hopkins has seen everything in the book & he’s pretty much felt it.

I think that Joe’s output would be what saved him in a fight against Hopkins…but it would also be a factor in him getting his face busted the hell up to. Hopkins will pull him into the gutter (just like he does everyone else that he faces) & drown him in the drain.

It was a superb gameplan from a guy who was supposed to be old and unable to box at pace against a guy known for setting the pace . I was very impressed with Hopkins . Id be even more impressed if he could do the same to Joe .
I agree…Hopkins on points.

I was at Hopkins vs. Wright & I got up & walked out of the fight. I was so disgusted with Hopkins in that fight. He did fight dirty in that fight…I was shocked with the whole fiasco. Hopkins was in the wrong, the referee was a fucking retard, & Wright was definently suited for 175lbs or 171lbs whatever it was that he came in on. He looked flabby & sluggish. I don’t think that he got up for the fight like he said.

As far as him dealing with Wright’s style…nah…he plastered his forehead into Wright’s face more times than I have ever seen him do. Sure he got in close, sure he started negating Wright’s jab, but when you push in with your head…you’re pretty much going to shut down anything he has going on.

I just couldn’t believe that he got away with all the fouls that he did…& I am a HUGE Hopkins fan.

I don’t think that it’ll be a dull fight by any means.

The styles of both men would clash & it sure as shit wouldn’t be like a Lacy or Bika replay.
