Well, if improving defense includes not going out of your way to make 3rd grade silly faces, then I'm sure he'll improve, because I think that lapse of judgement was the only reason he got knocked down.Originally Posted by El Gamo

He isn't really that impressive i see his fight with Luis Ramon Campas who was old and was only ever goodish even his prime and Duddy got a gift in that fight i thought Campas won it by 2 rounds when mediocre fighter like Eric Regan shut out Campas so to be honest with you i would be surprised if Duddy made it into the 6th round with Pavlik.Originally Posted by Deanrw
Ahh that makes sense. He seems to be one dimensional then. It will take a guy who can neutralize Pavlik's jab to beat him. If Duddy cannot take the jab away, he will get peppered to pieces and get cracked by that right hand.Originally Posted by OwnedByPacstraightleft
Ok, just for the record, I am picking Duddy. All of you guys can kiss my ass. When he wins, all of you will be talking about him like he was Pavlik after the JT fight. Pavlik better not take John as lightly as most of you do, I think hes got a better chin than JT if he can get inside and mix it up like JT did(Pavlik will more than happily ablige)its anyones game, and Duddy has decent pop.
.....I don't hate Duddy but I'm realistic about him, I like the guy, I wish him the best but he's not winning vs Pavlik.
The people that hated on Taylor should really hate on Duddy considering he was fighting a bunch of junior middleweights...his biggest win was vs Yory Boy Campas, a JUNIOR MIDDLEWEIGHT, and he barely won that.
God Bless the stubbornness of the Irish but he's going to need more than that getting in the ring with Pavlik.
IMO to beat Pavlik you either have to be a smarter fighter or a faster fighter....at 160 there won't be anyone as big or as powerful as him but speed and accuracy and smarts....those can really win fights

.... When I think about it....
I'm rooting for Irish John Duddy on this one.
By the way, I'm always glad I'm a Morales fan.
.... My fighter didn't punk out and try to survive like someone did in their last fight with Pacquiao.

I don't think Pavlik smokes weed. Cuz the only sparking I see Duddy doing.Originally Posted by No Contest

Yeah. It's kind of funny, because even though I've seen Pavlik fight twice on HBO, I've seen more of Duddy online and obscure ppv undercards. He shows intelligence outside of the ring, has some decent bang, and strong-willed. Not to mention he's willing to face the best. I've heard him critique himself, and he brings up his shortcommings as well as his strong points. A true gentleman of the sport.
At least Pavlik earn some big money and great expose, and Duddy will get his first crack of the world class big time, and his fans will get a great spectacle either way. From a promotional point of view the fight is a non-brainer, and it can't be anything but a GREAT scrap. I'm really looking forward to this one.
Remember the good old days, we miss you Marco!
