Definitely agree with you Rhun. I think the occasional long gap for a comedic effect is ok, as sometimes you want to hide a punchline, but I can't understand why people quote the whole thing back.

What really annoys me is when you have like an 800 meter long page because there are dozens of replies and EVERYBODY just quotes everybody else.

A little commonsense and selective pruning would go a long way to solving that problem.
