Great thread. Cowdell means a lot to me because he trained behind the 'Pheasant' pub in Warley, about a mile from where I live. I went there myself, until I realised that I didn't like the training, and I played football and basketball for the district. Boxing training was just too hard. A nice anecdote - during Winter, kids saw Pat near his house by Barnford Park, and as kids will they started shouting Azumah at him, after their fight, and throwing snowballs. If he had caught them, I'm sure the idea of Pat not being a puncher would have been questioned. I'm glad.
