Let me just say this…I love Hopkins…but he’s just gotdam backwards sometimes & it’s not always just within the negotiation circles.

Not many people know about it or choose not to remember…but ever since he came out of obscurity with the Trinidad win…he’s done more than just pass up on matches against Calzaghe. He passed on a big money rematch with Roy Jones & Trinidad too. Tito went on to face Wright & got his ass handed to him. Hopkins coulda banked off that win.

The last time that Hopkins mentioned wanting Calzaghe was after he whipped the shit outta Tarverl He also started making noise once he heard about Taylor turning down a Calzaghe offer...too.

Not just that…but in the process of his career he’s pissed off the two big networks more than once, with Showtime vowing to never even begin to negotiate with him in anyway shape or form. Hopkins has most likely turned down more money than he’s made.

One of the main things that really killed me was when he fired his life time trainer & mentor Bouie Fisher. Bouie would later sue him over some miniscule sum of money that Hopkins pretty much admitted to not paying…just to prove a point. Prior to that…he got sued by his old promoter Lou Dibella for something like $600,000 & looked like a total fool in the process.

Again…I love’s me some Nard…but he is definitely in the wrong on more occasions than one. Honestly…I’m curious to see how long he lasts with Oscar.
