When the story broke, it appeared that the WBO had sanctioned this fight, but from what I read from the BBBC now, they said that the WBO had agreed with their view of this fight.

No, he is speaking the truth, although Enzo Calzaghe did put a three to four year timeframe on it if I remember correctly, and when I interviewed him about 8 months back or so, he was saying he still had a lot of business to clear up at cruiserweight first before moving on up.
