Joe aint gonna burn out like some "experts" have said.

People keep saying that Joe's old & will get old over night against Kessler. Bullshit. Kessler's got a good jab & power which is all well & fancy...but you need a bit more craft, IWHO, to topple Calzaghe.

If you could give Kessler some overnight ring savy...I'd heavily favor him...but that aint gonna happen...just like Joe won't get old overnight.

This will be a great fight & I think Joe's gonna shine again...but not like the master class act that he pulled against Lacy.
I think Kessler will be tougher than Lacy, because he will throw more, and might be a bit more accurate but I really hope that Calzaghe can put the afterburners on and really throw all the punches he can at Kessler like he did with Lacy. It's so close now I can almost taste it. Well...taste the beer beforehand anyway.
Kessler will certainly be a much harder hill to climb than Lacy...but he aint the mountain that many of the experts are making him out to be.

I love Kessler...I think that he's great & he's good for the division...but Calzaghe is Calzaghe & he sets the bar pretty damned high.

It's pretty amusing to here people refer to Calzaghe as a slapper...especially after he beats his opponent senseless. I watched about 4 of Joe's fights today on the job & paid close attention to his jab & left hook combination...what's funny is that he's thrown out about 4 jabs prior to firing the left either straight down the pipe or hooked it around the guard.

I just can't see Kess compensating for all that speed & accuracy. I'm still of the opinion that he'll need to either keep his jab in Joe's chops or just cover the up & then counter to be successful.

I could be wrong...have been before.

Im as hyped for a fight as you can be. I really hope Calzaghe comes and out and fights as well we know he can. If he is anywhere near his best then Kessler is simply in over his head.

Calzaghe really is that good and I hope it shows through again.

Movement, output, handspeed, footwork, stamina, experience in big fights. It all comes down to Calzaghe. Kessler has a great jab and arguably has more power. A jab can be worked around and power can always be nullified by speed.

Its still a Calzaghe decision for me.

Kessler goes 12 with Andrade and is now stopping Calzaghe in 5?!

I do have a problem with that. Its just plain dumb.

Would you care to back up anything you say?

Just thought i'd have a quick look at video footage of Kessler before voting. He looks a good fighter, good jab, excellent right cross and good speed. Never the less I think Calzaghe will be too quick, the main factor being his awesome footwork. By no means is Kessler flat footed but I think come saturday he may well come to look like he is ala Lacy.

People who haven't seen many of JCs fights don't realise how quick he is especially with combination punching and blinding footwork. I've heard people mention Mundine being as quick but having just watched the Kessler-Mundine fight I'm wholly unconvinced. Mundine throws a quick punch but not with the footwork and in the combinations we'll hopefully see JC throw tomorrow.

The fact I've been a member here for 5 years and rarely post though I am doing so now is testament to how excited I am about this fight. In the immortal words, sorry lyrics, of PJ and Duncan, lets get ready to rumble (UK reference for the Americans who won't get that)!

So what is everyone else doing in the build-up to the fight?

Personally, I'll be having a few mates around about lunchtime or so, and then sit around the house, play a bit of Wii Boxing and watch a few of Joe Calzaghe's previous fights. We'll probably then head down the M4 to Cardiff talking s**t and predictions, maybe make a few ridiculous bets, and then head to the "Mochyn Du" in Cardiff for a jar or three.

Then its off to the stadium for the start of the bill...and moaning about the fact that you can't get beer to the seats, and have to drink in the concourse. As the night wears on, a few more beers will be drunk, our confidence will be high, and hopefully we meet some Danes to toast, joke about with, and maybe drink a few pints more.

(This part is, at present, fictional)

And then, its midnight, and the real stuff starts. Enzo knocks out Azzaoui and Joe Calzaghe wins. I fall asleep in the car home.

Probably ave a few J's at home like and then down the Prince of wales Before making my way into the stadium...spend most of the time until Calzaghe and Enzo in the smoking area.

Probably going to hammer down some booze, kick it in the theatre room, & chow down on wings & pizza prior to the bout. After that...it's going to be a good going through of Kessler & Calzaghe's bouts blasted out on the 12' x 12'.

Gotta keep it simple & sober to a point...got the DRBR to run.

23 hours and 59 minutes till the fight is scheduled to start.....now I'm really psyched, the countdown is on!

I'm currently pulling an all nighgter & watching Kessler vs Siaca, Beyer, Andrade, & Mundine in comparison to Calzaghe vs Lacy, Mundine, Bika, Manfredo, Eubank, & Mkrtchian after I get findished with this swirling turd of a Brock Chambers bout.

The countdown is on & the clock is ticking

Random question but is Joe C the only guy who wears his RING belt and actually cares about it. In recent interviews Ive seen Katsidis and a few other fighters say that they don't really care about it etc!

I didn't know Kats was Ring Mag. champ Or was he just saying he didn't care for it.

I know both Rafa & Israel care about the belt and carry it.
    Tarver carried his
    Bernard carried his
    Solis carries his
    JMMormeck carries his
I've read Pavlik talking about being Ring Mag Champ
    Hatton carries his
    Casamayor carries his
I know Cazares carried his when he had it
