As for Joe,he is P4P top 5,has CRUSHED the 2 biggest threats to him,2 hungey, unbeatenpowerful young lions with belts and now has a few fights in him. I see an RJJ fight if he beats Tito and a B Hop fight.
I wouldnt hold my breath waiting for Hopkins or Jones to sign up for a fight with Calzaghe. Calzaghe would mess up both of them.

I wouldnt mind watching it happen though!!
I agree Joe would beat on them both! I'd especially like to see a B Hop fight! RJJ is too far past his best for that fight to mean anything anymore although it would be HUGE $$$ for Joe and who could begrudge him that? Hey Miles, check your PM!!
I think it has to be Hopkins now, because he's the one with a recent pedigree as well as a legend...whilst RJJ would be a faded name to add to the record. There aren't that many names out there left for him now, maybe claim a Light-heavy belt against Clinton Woods or Chad Dawson, before a finale against Hopkins would be a great climax to his career for me.

I think JC only wants B Hop and RJJ. A Woods fight would not be that great a spectacle imo,nor would a Dawson fight. If Taylor beats Pavlik the second time they fight,he'd be an easy payday for Joe.

Not necessarily ... some of the best fights are close hard-fought where even the loser gains new respect and acclaim. As long as it isn't clouded by bad judging and therefore in dispute by a great number of fans ... both could come out winners even though one actually loses.

That would be more likely with a win by Joe. If he loses, he loses more than Kessler does. So I guess I'm saying that if Joe doesn't do a Lacy on him, Kessler could still stand to gain from a wonderful loss.
    Agreed?

Everyone talks about Dawson, but lets be honest what has he done do far?? He beat Adamek good result but, whose Adamek? Dawson needs to do a bit more before getting a fight with Calzaghe.

That was one of the most absorbing fights i've watched in a long time! Both men were outstanding. That for me is what a fight should like like.

Both men on their A game, refusing to wilt.

I can't recall ever being so nervous watching a fight. Both men were constantly fine tunning there boxing. The number of times the momentum changed per round (let alone the course of the fight) was simply fantastic.

Joe Clazaghe. What a fighter! Tough SOB too. Damn he got caught with about 5 maybe 6 shots that should of had him out of there!
So good offensively... So energized, always up on his toes!
Although for me he didn't punch as hard as id like, he got PLENTY of power shots home and the way he found spots for that jab was just plain sexy!

Mikkel Kessler. Wow! There was points in that fight were he was making Calzaghe look like Lacy! And then came that 1st uppercut

I seriously thought it was over there & then (And Im sure Kessler did too ).

Kessler should of pressed more though. A few more of his power shots through out the fight would of been so so decisive. Maybe Calzaghe's rally in the 8 had Kessler doubting himself.

Great fight. Loved every single second of it. Both men gained a lot last night.

I think Joe should try and break Marciano's record he's so close. Then he can hang em up.

Adamek is a very good solid fighter.

skel1983, please note that Dawsons name was mentioned by "Supaheavyrhun" who happens to be a Calzaghe fan. He just threw Dawsons name out there as a possible future match up being that Dawson holds the WBC title.
Oddly enough I was the 1st person on this site to mention both Kess & Dawson as future potential champs waay before they won a title.
I started watching and following Dawson from very early in his career. The kids vastly improved his ring skills, he moves well and uses his distance something that Calzaghe also does. I just dont see Dawson going being much of challange for Joe the only interesting thing about a potential Joe vs. Dawson fight is that they are both southpaws and Dawsons taller and has a longer reach. Other then that I just see Joe rolling allover Dawson. Dawsons still green IMO and has some things to learn. Thing is hes already a World Champ so right now he just has to go out there and learn as he goes. Not sure how much you've seen of Adamek but Adamek is one of the toughest fighters out there hes already championed at Light Heavy and is making his mark as a Cruiserweight so we'll see whats to come of him.

Dont get me wrong Mick i think Dawson is a talented good young fighter, but i dont think he has built up his name enough for me to warrent a fight with Calzaghe to be honest.

I honestly want Joe to fight Pavlik, another young hungry guy who can bang, i would love to see this fight.

I think Joe's had enough of 168. He's recently said that he's always thought he'd be better at 175 (why he stayed at 168 i'll never know.... Irrelevant now of course).

I dunno if B-Hop would be an entertaining match up but it would be for silly money. Im sure Joe would like some silly money

I agree and even more so for the sake of Dawsons career he should steer clear from Joe and focus on his own thing there. Dawson IMO has potential future fights with Erdei, Green, Diaconu.
Joe needs not to waste time with young fighters he needs the big names at Light Heavy. Hopkins, Woods, Glen.
Let's keep in mind Joe pulled out of the fights when he set to fight Glen so we might see that happen now.

Just finished watching the fight. I still think Pavlik - Taylor is the best fight I've seen this year, but this one's a close second. I had Calzaghe slightly ahead through 8 rounds, but it was still up in the air until Calzaghe showed the mark of a true champion and won the championship rounds.
I gained a huge amount of respect for both fighters. They both gave it their all, and Calzaghe just out-thought Kessler. Great fight, I'm a fan of both fighters from this day forward.
In regards to Calzaghe - Hopkins, I think JC's work-rate will just be too much for B-Hop and I don't think B-Hop can take that away. I know he appeared to do that against Winky, but I'm not convinced it wasn't a case of all the extra weight making Winky sluggish (Winky's not exactly a young fighter either, and has showed some signs of aging in his last few fights). The one thing working in Hopkins' favor is that Kessler was able to hit Calzaghe with some clean counter-punches and Hopkins is a masterful counter-puncher.

No way Kessler will lose this. It's his time. I'm even going to give you the scenario. Calzaghe takes round 1, which will pretty much be a feeling out round. After that Kessler's jab and right hand take over the fight. He takes round 2 and round 3 easily. He drops Calzaghe late in round 3. Calzaghe tries to fight back in round 4 and in the process breaks his hand. Kessler goes in for the kill and stops Calzaghe with about a minute left in round 4. Calzaghe groupies refuse to give Kessler any credit. Instead using the broken hand as an excuse.
lol @ how wrong that actually was.

Agreed. I say that he's done with it too...what else is left to do? Beat Mundine? Actually...I'd like that even...but I want him to move up & fight Hopkins, Tarver, Jones, or Johnson.

I think that it would. The styles would clash so badly that something crazy would have to happen...plus...all that experience...as gritty as Hopkins is & as awkward & fast as Joe is...oh it'd be something of a mess...but I am sure we'd all come out thrilled shitless.

Calzaghe Hopkins would be a huge clash of styles, and a messy fight, still would love to see it.

I see it quite close, and like you said, Hopkins will land the counters, But Joe showed last night how he can take those poerful one shot counters and rally straight back. I'd pick Joe to win a UD after a grueling contest due to his work rate, though he could just as well stay on the outside peppering him with that jab waiting for B-hop to make a mistake. Would be a fight against to of the best thinkers in the sport.
