That leaves the intangibles: skill, athleticism, experience, and chin. Shane has the advantage in all those areas. So unless Shane grows old in this fight...i don't see him loosing. Shane's speed and angles, combined with Cotto's iffy chin, will give him the advantage in a war. But Shane also has the foot and hand speed to have the advantage if it gets tactical at points. Both fighters have great hearts so it should be an exciting fight!
In my opinion: speed conquers power when the person who has the speed boxes and moves around the ring. Sugar Shane will not do this. First, because he doesn't run. Second, because Cotto is excellent at cutting off the ring. You will see how Mosley tries to use his jab alot early in this fight trying to set up the straight right hand and left hook. Now with that said, Cotto will prevent it by using his jab first and getting inside before Mosley gets time to set up a shot. This leads to alot of inside work from the hands of Cotto. Cotto will hold when needed and will frustrate Mosley by the middle rounds.
That jab stops and slows down Mosley. It also frustrates him.
Mosley never comes into fights with a "plan B". When a fighter frustrates him (Wright - Forrest) He loses alot in him. ****Watch all 4 of his losses, including his 2nd fight to Oscar which I honestly think he lost***** He shows alot of frustration when being beat to the jab.
Cotto is highly underated. The guy can box if needed to. He's just not that come forward 24/7 type of guy. He also is alot faster than many think. That is why I think the speed of his jab will frustrate Mosley alot in this fight.
I'm not saying Cotto has a Quartey type jab, all I'm saying is that he will use it enough to help him get inside of Mosley and slow him down a bit and frustrate him a little. You might have a good point and speed should conquer power, but I think you've also forgotten that a simple jab......stops speed!
