The only worthy name there is Toney. Paz was waaaaaaaay past it. Brannon was much to talk about nor was Byrd or Thorton. Lucas was so so.

Those are a bulk of names, outside of Toney, that hold no merit...but everyone lambasts Calzaghe for dominating his division at a weak time...but it's not like Jones fought the strongest opposition at 168lbs.

Roy was a marvel at 175lbs & that is where he fought his best opposition.
#3224. I agree. I've always thought people rate Jones as the best Super-Middle based on the rest of his career. Oh and for the record, Toney would have been taken apart by Joe.

To bad for Lacy he won't be allowed to kick in the fight. I'm telling you if Lacy loses his power he's finished as a fighter. What's he going to do without it? Box? Become a defensive master? I doubt that. Lacy is a power hitter. Without it he's a journeyman.
I think you'll be suprised, on how good of shape he will be. Not to mention he has power in both hands
If he's healthy and still has his power than good for him You know me. I never get tired watching Manfredo get his a** kicked.
Well said VD....if Lacy still has the power, or even 85% of the power he had before the injury, then he will blast Manfredo out of there. Which is nice.

Hmm...with the power of hindsight, I disagree that Banks made look Manfredo look bad. Manfredo won by a clear UD, though he lost a few rounds because he had trouble dealing with Banks handspeed. It looked bad at first, because nobody knew much about Banks, even though he had beaten a fairly well regarded prospect, Elvin Ayala twice. By the way, that same Elvin Ayala just pulled a draw against Sergio Mora. Having just watching Banks dismantle Donny McCrary live from 40 ft away, and having watched Banks bust up and push a very good young fighter named Paul Smith to a SD on TV, that victory over Banks looks a bit better. More than a bit better. Scoring a UD over Banks looks pretty damn good, actually. Banks might be feather-fisted, but that guy is fast. I don't hear anybody ripping Paul Smith for essentially letting Banks take him out of the tournament, and Smith was probably the 4th best of the group.

So I guess if Banks made Manfredo look like shite, he made Paul Smith look like double shite, and indirectly, he made Mora look bad by twice beating a guy with whom he drew.

So, looking back, it looks pretty good for Manfredo that he pulled a unanimous 97-93 victory over the guy (though I had the fight 96-94).
