I am going against the feeling here and saying Barkley would win. He did well against the taller hard punchers. The danger of Barkley was not really his power which was good but not great. It was how strong he was physically, just a strong guy.. Toney said onetime that he felt Barkley's left hook a week after it landed. But I think Barkley would throw punches during exchanges. He did not wait to get bombed on and then answer back in a seesaw. He would set as the other guy was bombing away, and that style worked well against Hearns. Hearns liked to go for broke and Barkley had a style to swing in the middle of exchanges. Against tall hard punches Barkley does well. The shorter guys he does worse against. He punches better higher. I notice when he fought shorter guys his hooks land over their heads and they duck easier. Against taller guys he had the right style. And since Hearns rarely lost, you have to say a style situation was there.
