That's a bit silly to say he has no right to challenge them when he has been in the WW division far far longer than of all them. And I would not mind seeing him beat up on Cintron again, just because Kermit has been beating these c grade fighters and looking good whilst doing so,does not mean he will do better v Tony. PW was offered the immediate rematch and refused. Had Margarito not fought Williams,he would have fought Cotto,so he has just as much right as anyone else to ask to face either of those guys. They have all had thei shots at the bigtime, now it's his turn.

you know what, you're right. i wouldn't mind seeing this fight.i 'm just saying that just because you have been in the division longer does not make you the king of it. It really doesn't mater you have to earn your shot!! and as of right now since Tony lost his title, all he has done is beat on Golden Johnson who by the way just like Cintron's opponents is a C class fighter as well . So you say, you lose a fight , beat up a C class fighter and you get to fight Cotto or Mayweather?? i think you need to take those certain steps. fighting Cintron or Williams first, is taking those necessary steps to have a bigger fight against Cotto or Mayweather. regardless I'm all down to watch this fight if it happens.
Cintron is getting a unification next year v Williams, that's his big shot. Margarito has beaten better fighters than both Cintron and Williams. In fact, aside form Mayweather, and Cotto,Tony has the best resume(assuming Shane is retired) so yes,he does deserve a shot. Margarito has also given Clottey,Williams and Cintron their shots at his title,no-one has repaid the favour. It's time for them too. Golden Johnson is a C class fighter who fought better fighters than nearly all of Cintron's opponents(Margarito,Mosley,Leija etc). Heck even Margarito's left overs beat up on other fighters big names(Lujan KTFO Mathysse, one of the biggest names on Cintron and Williams resume)

Combining all those factors, and the fact that Zab Judah got a shot at Cotto coming off a ND,and a few losses,it's safe to say that people who say Margarito should get in line are talking nonsense. He deserves a shot more than anyone else. Anything else
I agree.

Tony is as deserving as anybody for a shot at Cotto. The winner of Hatton/Mayweather is the obvious first choice, and if Cintron beats Williams, a Cintron/Tony rematch is also an obvious choice. Cintron will come running to Tony looking to avenge his loss. And it's not like Tony got blown out by Williams. He lost, but he lost less decidedly than Judah lost to Baldy or Mayweather. If Mayweather wins and then plays his little games and ducks Cotto, Margarito is probably only the 2nd biggest fight Cotto can make. Here's the wildcard...Mayweather retires then even off a loss, Hatton is still be the biggest money fight out there for Cotto, and that would be, I think, an easier fight than Tony. If Hatton loses competitively to Mayweather and Mayweather won't fight Cotto, I won't blame Cotto if he chooses Hatton over Tony for his next fight, but that doesn't mean I don't think Margarito wouldn't be just as, if not more, deserving of the fight.

The bottom line for Tony is that he screwed himself over with that flat performance against Williams, whatever the reasons why. If he gets his big shot now, great for him, he certainly deserves it, but if he don't, he can't bitch too much because, he did, in fact, lose. I'm rooting for the guy, but it is what it is.
