Default Hagler vs. Jones jr. Middleweight, in their Prime.

Hagler's conventional style vs. Jones' unconventional one. Hagler's power vs. Jones' speed. Jones' power vs. Hagler's chin.

The style matchup is intersting. Despite his reputation for playing it safe, Jones really did not fight SRL or Ali style, dancing backwards, jabbing, and counterpunching. His defense was his offense, and he usually tried to control the pace of the fight by going forwards and landing power shots, sometimes even devoid of jabs. Even when he went backwards he didn't display quite the extreme movement that SRL did when he fought Hagler with this style (which is obviously the template to beat Hagler). Would this play into Hagler's hands or would the unconventional angles of Jones's punches prove problematic for Hagler?

My guess is that Hagler's chin was the best in history and even Jones would not be able to change that. Hagler's relentless aggression would finally get to Jones' chin late.

If it's at Middle, I think I'd go for Hagler. Jones looked better as a SMW/LHW IMO.

Tough one. I'll say this a 12 round fight with RJJ on his toes could win a SD, but I think in a 15 rounder Hagler's constant pressure and aggression would be to much and he'd walk away with either a 15 round KO or decision. One of the more intriguing fights scenarios I've heard.

I see Jones trying to break Hagler then finding himself on his back.
And if the 15 round even more do i feel that Roy will end up on his back.

And if Hitman could not hurt Hagler then i can not see Roy doing so Hearns may have started up a welter but ended his career knocking Crusierweights out. Hearns big wins are from people coming up but unlike the guys Bernard beat they all succeeded at MW even as high as CW. Duran won belts in Middleweight, Hearns won belts all the way up to Crusierweight. Roy may have been the best SMW but he is for form being the best at Middle Hagler all the way and i would not change my mind for the world Hagler the man and wins a close UD or later TKO.
And also this thread has already been started and been going a while always a good match to talk about.

I don't think a lot of you are truly familiar with Marvin Hagler. At the end of his career, against Hearns, Leonard and Mugabi, he came forward and took punches to land punches. His chin was impregnable and he punched real hard.
The REAL Marvin Hagler was a very fast very accurate boxer. He threw fast, hard straight punches, and he worked the body very well. He was very mobile and hard to hit and, as always, you couldn't hurt the man.
RJJ at MW was, at best, an advanced amateur, with power "proven" against Jorge Vaca and Art Serwano. His fight with Hopkins was terrible: when Hagler was coming up it would've been a 6 rounder. The idea of RJJ "potshotting" Hagler is beyond ridiculous. This fight, between a prime Hagler and RJJ at 160, would not go 6 rounds and it would not be pretty. At any weight, Hagler wins because Jones Jr never had the bottom for a real fight.

I assume, then that you've not seen the Hopkins/RJJ fight?
