No he didn't beat Reid convincing if you watched the fight you would know it was razor thin close and very controversial decision because alot of people thought Reid won.
A lot of people thought ODLH beat Floyd. A lot of people can be wrong.
Thats totally different Reid and Calzaghe both landed same amount of punches stats wise Mayweather was ahead in punchstats by a mile against Oscar De La Hoya plus Mayweather was landing the way more effective blows against Oscar De La Hoya all you have to do is watch close and you can see most of Oscar De La Hoya's flurries missed.

Plus Reid was landing more effective blows vs Calzaghe i never see Calzaghe even hurt Reid once but i see Calzaghe rocked plenty of times.
how was he meant to hurt a guy with a bust hand? it was broken out right in the 6 or 8 round, it was bust up bad before the fight, he couldnt throw a punch with it for the better part of 3 motnhs, no sparring or bag work, just running and still won, in reiads back yard.

punch stats don't mean shit, its whats done in each round, if sum1 landed 200 punches in a round they win one round only.
If you say Calzaghe-Reid was only close cuz Calzaghe hurt his hand, than I guess Kessler only lost cuz his hand was hurt. Both bullshit excuses.

I thought that he won the fight clearly i had it 115-113 in favor of Cal it was close but i think it was clear Calzaghe won.

I guess it all depends on how you look at it?.....he is the longest reigning SMW champion and has had some good names...the bigger names early on in his career were past their best though,,,Brewster, Eubank etc....then he has beaten the two guys considered the biggest threats to him in the last 2 or so years in Lacey and Kessler...A problem for not only Calzaghe but any SMW is the division has never been chuck full of talent...more or less a stop over point for most.....He has kept a stronghold on his title though and has garnered a P4P spot....his wins have been pretty dominate...he may not become an ATG over all and end up in the top 20 but he will go down as an ATG SMW perhaps the top SMW of all time....

The way ATG's are rated is funny like I said it is all how someone views ATG
Hidden Content IN CASE THEY ALL FORGOT WHAT REAL HEAVYWEIGHT POWER WAS!!!

I agree with ICB on the Reid fight but here's My view SHORT AND SWEET.

Calzaghe an all time great: No

He beat Kessler who his last 5 opponents were world class so brilliant, that was a top performance and should get HIGH recognition for that HOWEVER

He fought 2 contenders, one of which never won the show and another nearly got KO'd in the first round. Overrated Lacy built up by the press. Past it Eubank, on another night could've beaten by Reid, a couple of FORMER world champs and the rest Bums.

So NO IMO Calzaghe has a fir bit of work to do if he wants to be considered an ATG and he can start by booking a flight with BA to Philidelphia to fight in someone else's backyard for a change.

(They go straight from Heathrow Joe)

The way i hear it is that Hopkins is going to price him self out but i think Joe might take his offer so he can get some names to his legacy.

Calzaghe has the opportunity to be an all-time great but like Floyd Mayweather Jr. he just has to make some big fights happen.

Hopkins, Tarver, RJJ, Dawson, Taylor, Pavlik

Calzaghe can't be blamed 100% for his competition, he came into a good division that thinned out over the years and most of the champions didn't fight him either because he wasn't big enough at the time or he didn't want to fight outside England.

No shame for Calzaghe's career, he's one of if not the best at 168 as a division it hasn't seen the depth that middleweight and light heavyweight have seen over the years.

I would love to see him spark out Antonio Tarver though

Yea but he said he only going to be around for a year or so so he better move his ass Lyle or he not going to get credit. I think Hopkins and a win over Pavlik and maybe Dawson would be great and then he would have to be a atg because what else could the man do.
