Woods is a good solid light heavyweight and has good speed and a pretty good punch output. He is underrated and has the tools and size to give Calzaghe his first loss imo. If Calzaghe starts to trade toe to toe like he usually does he will get hurt. Even though Calzaghe would probably be a favorite Id pick Woods by a close points win.

Although I'd prefer to see Joe face Hopkins for the LH championship I think a fight with Woods would be much better!!!
The interesting thing is, Hopkins isn't a LHW champion. He has The Ring belt, but officially, he has F*** all. I think Joe is looking at Woods as the longest reigning current LHW champion, a guy who has challenged him on a number of occasions and sees it as a good back up because it'll be one more UK fight, it'll give him the oppertunity to become a 2 weight world champion, it's a fight he should win and it's leverage for future fights at the weight.
Hopkins is the LH champion, all Woods has is a belt that was stripped.
A fight & victory over Hopkins would make Calzaghe a linear two division champion. A win over Woods is only one division & a belt (not a championship) in another.
Johnson beat Tarver Woods beat Johnson Hopkins beat a weight drained Tarver lets not forget Hopkins was beaten twice by Taylor
Hopkins was beaten by Taylor but at 160 not 175. Tarver beat Johnson again to regain the championship. Woods beat Johnson after that. Tarver was the LH champ coming into the Hopkins bout... weight drained or not!

Ok but Woods as mixed in good company he deserves a shot against Calzaghe i wish Calzaghe had fought Johnson when he should have don't know how he would have handled him constantley coming forward throwing big shots.

As I stated earlier I feel a Calzaghe/ Woods fight would be great but a win over Hopkins at LH means more for Joe's legacy than a win over Woods!

Johnson couldn't even deal with sheika for christs sake, calzaghe would of ruined him like he did sheika. Whilst glen was durable and had some big shots he was a nothing more than a guy you stick in with fighters who you want to gain some exp.

People let their respect for glens heart and desire as fighter cloud their sight on what an average boxer he really is.

Hopkins is a great fighter but i can't get past the fact he is 43 he lost twice to Taylor beat a weight drained Tarver then beat Winky who had been Lightmiddle and Middleweight fighter coming up.

If he beat Calzaghe (it's a big if) would you say the same thing... Calzaghe was the smaller man coming up. Although I'd favor Calzaghe it is not impossible for me to see the experience of Hopkins winning through!

Winky is a bit more hittable now so IMO the defense won't help him all that much...2 years ago and it would have meant trouble for Calzaghe

It won;t happen though...B-Hop has left his balls in the Middleweight division! He is all mouth and no troussers!
