    Default Cotto Vs. Williams?

I was just thinking this could be a possible matchup for "the Punisher", he could fight a tune-up/mandatory, then go for Cotto in summer late spring. Floyd doesnt seem to mention either of these two much, so we shall see what he does after the Hatton fight, supposing he wins. He'll probably call out Cintron. Also the promotion side would get done Shaw and Arum did the Margarito/Williams fight, dont see how they would have a problem. It would probably be in MSG due to Cotto's fanbase. This fight is a awesome matchup for me. I think Cotto might give Williams problem like no other WW could, with his body attack. We all know you go to the body on tall guys and Williams is hittable. Williams has a chance in any fight at WW IMO though and if he shows up ready Cotto wont be able to use his new outside game. Not picking a winner yet but I would say Cotto has to win by KO or its a Williams decision.

Definately a good call to unify at 147 I'd lean towards Cotto KO, but it would definately be no easy task. For ANYONE to unify at 147 is going to be a challenge, you have PBF/Hatton, Cintron, Williams and Cotto all have something unique and have the style to beat any non-elite fighters readily wish I could same the same for the Heavyweights.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.

This is a fight I'd love to see; actually PW with all the top guys. Cotto will look like a midget compared to Williams and will have to go back to mauling to get to PW. I could easily see a PW points win if Cotto can't get in to his body and slow him down. Margarito had looked small next to PW and Cotto is even shorter and won't be able to box him like he did with Mosley. Great matchup though, but I doubt we see it until late next year or 2009 if we're lucky; depends on Hatton/Mayweather outcome.

Williams has about half a foot on Cotto, possibly more depending on what measurements you believe. Margarito is 5'11, and he had a tough time getting inside, I can't see how Cotto wouldn't fair worse in that regard. Williams by an 8-4 type of decision. Arum will never make this fight. Williams has so many physical advantages at 147, I'm afraid it is going to be very difficult for him ever to get a shot at the big names.

I dont think Cotto will avoid this fight because he has his pride. Cotto always talks about fighting the best out there, once again time to man up. Theres no easy fights out there for WW's anymore. I view Cintron as the weakest champ and he's not a walk in the park. Do these guys just really not want to pay multiple sanctioning fee's or whats up?

I would love to see this fight happen, maybe next August/September. Cotto will fight PBF next.

Naw if Williams doesnt hold when Cotto while he goes on the inside. Cotto will destroy Williams. Dont give Cotto little credit he deserves way more than PW.

Cotto is an excellent fighter, I'm not taking anything away from him. But, as they say, styles make fights. Cotto is about 5-7 inches shorter than Williams (again, depending on what measurements you believe). Williams pumps his long jab out relentlessly. How is Cotto going to get inside consistently when the taller Margarito couldn't? And, yes, Williams will tie him up some, just as all long-armed fighters do. Cotto is a clever fighter, so maybe he finds a way, but I just don't see it. In any case, he certainly doesn't destroy Williams. It would be a hell of a puzzle for Cotto (and anyone else at 147) to solve. If you think otherwise, I have to question how much of Williams you've seen. No one at 147 is going to destroy him.

Please note that I said Arum wouldn't make the fight, not that Cotto would personally avoid Williams. Cotto, like most fighters, let's their representation handle things as far as finding opponents.

I think cotto would win a controversial split decision...,i could see Williams dominating most of the fight with his long jab and then Cotto slowly coming on late, hurting Williams wit his body attack....

i dont think it would be a good fight for Cotto,Williams would cause problems for everyone,Cotto vs Margarito would be a fight of the year...
