BBC Sports Personality.....Ricky is a legend

What more needs to be said about this guy. Hate his style, disrespect his ability, but this guys is hard not to love. He was just on a satellite broadcast as part of coverage for BBC sports personality of the year as one of the nominees. He was sat beside Calzaghe, another nominee.

When asked about the fight, he apologised as he feels as if he has let everybody down, He then said he felt like crying. He reitterated his pride in the British fans and their amazing support of him. Then, in the usual Ricky style he joked that it was a slip and everybody cracked up laughing, Ricky's face lit up and all of a sudden today doesn't feel quite as bad as it did

I hate it so much when a fighter carries the burden of his country (Felix Trinidad, JJC also) on his shoulders because it really breaks their hearts when they lose a fight, and makes it that much harder to move on . Damn that sucks in the worse way because he does genuinely seems like a great person. anyway its glad to hear he's joking and his spirits is up.

There's no burden in this country. When you're British it's your job to lose, if he would have beaten Floyd he would have been a winner and our fans would no longer be able to relate to him. That's why Joe Calzaghe will no doubt finish third in this years Sport's Personality of the year behind those who truly epitomise the British art of losing gallantly Louis Hamilton and Ricky Hatton.

You mean like with Frank Bruno ?. Funny but come to think of it i have heard that in the past about the British fans. While American fans can only tolerate a winner.

the last 6 fights hatton has had have been against tough fighters, tzu, maussa, colaza, urangha, casstio and mayweather ( sorry for the bad spellings) he's not ducked anyone, he came up short aginst the top man, he went over to the states and its a real shame he didnt win and get the award tonight as well........... had he stuck to the easier route that calzaghe takes by only fighting in the uk aginst largely decent euro fighters then he'd still be champ and would have won the award............... but fair do's to joe
