Bilbo:It's not the same though Donny. White's as a race DID openly feel superior to blacks, we enslaved them, we thought them subhuman, like beasts of burden and cattle. That's what racism is.
Bilbo thats in the past. WE never enslaved anybody`, that was hundreds of years ago. All White people should leave your highlighted feelings and beliefs in the past as they are understandably deemed wrong in modern society. However, in turn coloured people should accept that behaviour was a past occurance and not hold it against modern white people who on the most part believe in equality and justice.

Blacks feeling digruntled against whites for hundreds of years of past treatment isn't racism it's just natural behaviour.
The Irish feel the same way about the British?
Is that right? I don't think so. The British never oppresed me, so I bear no grudge against them.

Hopkins is from the streets and still speaks like he's from the streets. But at the end of the day he's a boxer not a politician.
He's a boxer that has more infleunce, respect and exposure than most politicians. He knows this and should realise that when put in a position of power he must present himself carefully and not abuse his infleunce.

As far as I'm concerned he can say what the hell he likes. If Calzaghe were to say the same thing in reverse it would take on a whole different meaning considering the weight of history.
Again, history is in the past! I don't think Joe Calzaghe every oppressed any coloured people. Yet if he said something similar I would expect him to be shunned as it's such a loaded Topic. Why is it so loaded?...because both coloured and white people realise it is a black mark on our history as a species and think it should be forgotten.

White's have never been racially subjecated by blacks its the other way around.
And 90% modern coloured people have not been racially subjected.
If Hopkins had been raised in the 50's/60's perhaps I could understand. If he had just been thrown out of a restaraunt then perhaps I could forgive his anger. But this is 2007 and a man of such wealth, fame and power has no need or reason to dislike white people other than ignorance and a lack of will to be at peace.

If a convicted child sex offender repeatedely hugs other people's children it's viewed with suspician, wheras if a little kid hugs another child or an adult it's something completely different.
I understand your point but once again....Do you think Hopkins ever was discriminated to a large extent first hand? Or is he living in the past, living of feelings which arose from his ancestors being discriminated.

Anyway all I can say is that Hopkins comment worked. We are all talking about it, which at the end of the day is all he wanted.
