Default I'm 14 and want to become a boxer

    Hello my name is Austin,

And I would like to become a boxer.I would want to know how i get started.I've heard here that you have to have a trainer. Where do i get one from?I also do not know how to started because there are no boxing activities at my highschool. But, there is a lifting weights class there which i can take. I have been lifting some weights daily and have a little bit of muscle. What can i do to workout?

    Thanks

go to a gym my friend. if you look at the top theres a link for finding a gym in an area near you!
if you want to get ready, start doing pressups and situps every day, aswell as skipping and jogging in the evening.
good luck and if theres anything else i can help on just give me a shout

Default WANT TO TAKE BOXING LESSONS AT 30

ive always loved boxing and have been a huge fan since i was a kid..ive always toyed with the notion of learning to box but just never made the move. as a youngster my parents wouldnt hear of it and i was always into football, basketball, and baseball, and played hoops thru college. then i went to law school then working my my up the laddr for last five years....now that im settled in my career and personal life (married 1 month ago) id like to take some lessons. again im 30, about 6'3 1/2 270 lbs or so but mostly muscle from years of weightlifting (37-38 waist so not to fat) pretty good athlete as i said, pretty quick soft hands, good footwork due to years playing in the post in basketball.. and ive always been pretty tough with a high pain threshold...........im not saying i want to be competitive fghter but id like to take lessons and really learn how to fight for two basic reasons

1 get in top shape (treadmill is boring)
2 increase my self confidence and esteem

what do u guys think? (in all sincerity)

You should be able to find a local club on google but if nt just ask around for a local club.
When you do start people start to respect you more and it gives you something to talk about with people you dont like :

i can handle myself i just would like to know for sure that if someone fucked with me i could turn there lights out quick--especially some of the punk ass kids i see from time to time that i grew up with and old college and law school guys that i hate--u know again im a pretty big guy and i bench press 400 lbs so im sure if i learned how to throw hands id be pretty devastating to the average punk in a bar who fucked with me you know?

    Default Just beginning

I've been interested in boxing for many years, now i want to try it. I'm 15 years old, 165 lbs, 5 foot 10, with about 18 percent bodyfat. I can hit very hard and i am pretty fast, but i want to get serious. I have always looked up to Mike Tyson as a fighter(not a person), so I am going to get into good shape with bodyweight exercises mostly, even though i have weight equipment. I have a good amount of size in my room for a heavy bag, my ceiling is 8 feet from the floor, so hopefully thats enough space for a bag? its a very hot room so I'll sweat a lot too. Please tell me some equipment to buy to get started, thanks.
