Default Something I Noticed About floyd

I really think floyd is a really good fighter and he has been for awhile now but he has really grown into the weight. It was evident by him stunning Dlh albeit slightly (which I thought would never happen) and some of the punches he landed against Hatton seemed alot stiffer that in the past.

I kinda agree. It could definately be argued that Mayweather is a puncher.

Although, there could also be an argument that Hatton isn't quite so resiliant once the gas meter starts to dwindle.

Three fights in a row past round 6 had Hatton looking out of sorts now. That cant be ignored. Can it

I agree as well, i never ever thought he could KO hatton especially the way he only throws on punch at a time at times. I've always thought floyd had a little pop.

I agree but if I was fighting him, I would not be letting my guard down on him thinking he can't hurt me.

Mayweather was very good puncher at Superfeatherweight and still is a pretty good puncher, i said to people before Hatton fight that Hatton better respect Mayweather's power and they all thought i was silly but it wasn't that silly of a comment with hindsight

I just remembered something right now that you brought up power punching.
When PBF hit Hatton with that hard right hand right on top of the forehead I yelled: "Oh shit! there goes his hand" thinking he was gonna injur the hand especially when HBO did the slow mo replay it looked VERY similar to the punch he landed on Jesus. but surprise! he didn't....

I didn't even think about that cause I was more concerned with Hattons neck being broken.

I think Floyd has enough power to make opponents think twice, but his power at welterweight is average. Let's remember that his fights at welterweight were against smaller or light-fisted fighters such as Sharmba Mitchell, Zab Judah, Carlos Baldomir, and yes Ricky Hatton. For Hatton fans, you should have seen the omen that was presented to you when the featherfisted Collazo rocked Hatton, specifically in the 12th round. Until Floyd KO's bigger welterweights such as Cintron, Margarito, Williams, and Cotto, I will continue to believe his power at 147 is average. Of course, any well placed punch can do damage.

I think that's where floyds power comes from, his accuracy and speed.... I could see him wobbling cotto with a jab to the body and then following it with a right hook or uppercut to cottos chin (my favorite combo btw)

Cotto will not be walking into any of Floyds punches. Cotto is going to time Floyd like no one else has and then what is Floyd going to do? He is going to get mopped. Floyd saw something in the Cotto/Mosley fight that did not sit well with him. Not only did Floyd kiss Cotto's @ss before saying his goodbyes, he also kissed Shane's @ss. The problem Shane poses is not only his speed but his IRON chin. There is no way in hell Floyd can stop Shane.
Anyway, Floyd went out kissing the entire Welter Weight divisions @ss and basicly saying he does not want to fight any Welter Weight.

My question is, how can you claim to be the best Welter Weight when you wont fight any of them. Shiet just don't make sense.

Cotto is going to time Mayweather like nobody else has? What about Judah who had better timing than Cotto when he was on in their fight? He had better speed than Cotto as well and hits hard, and that dind't phase Mayweather at all. ALso Mayweather I think for once was trying to be respectful, he just won and he is going out so he figures he might as well be polite.

Cotto may be able to time well with his punches, but I dont think you understand the realm of where floyd comes from. The thing with floyd is that he is so versitle that he attacks with several random punches within the same stance, which throws off his opponents and thats why many dont "see" his punches coming, besdies his blinding quickness. Take a look at the Hatton fight in round 8, mayweather was in his bend over stance where he keeps his back foot on his toes, from there he throws a series of right hand leads, jabs to the body, and short leaping hooks. Thats why its almost impossible to time him because he's not the conventional fighter in the sense that he has a "pattern" to follow. He will throw several punches each from different angles within the same stance, and also as he back peddles or utilizes his shell defense.
