Walt rocks - I noticed something cool during the 2nd season rewatching. A lot of people theorized that Walt's appearances to Shannon (and all the other odd sightings - Jack's dad, Kate's horse, etc.) were manifestations of either Jacob or the black smoke monster. With the other cases, that might be right, but Walt is different.

When he first appeared to Shannon, not long after the group had set sail on the raft, he was dripping wet. That to me implied that either the smoke monster/Jacob was drawing on Walt's present state of being (since he had just been kidnapped from the raft), or the sending came from Walt himself.

I'm going with option B, especially in light of that last Mobisode.
CC back friend,I totally agree,I think Walt's appearances are different to those others. Also with the other appearances like the horse etc,it's specific to that character and their past. Shannon and Walt didn't really have a past.

I'm still intrigued as to WHY it's birds that he kills or maims. Remember when Walt's mother and step father were in the room and there was like a dead bird in that scene too! Is that his sign?> If it is,then remember when a few of the Losties were going to the Other's camp, and there was this AWESOME bird which seemed to appear from the trees and Hurley says I think he called my name, could that have been Walt attempting to get in touch with them?

Heck,is Walkt "good" or "bad" and what the heck could Jacob want with Walt?!
